Shooters,

The National Guard will be conducting training at the AEDC ranges on Saturday, and plans to finish up that day, but there is a possibility for carryover activity on Sunday morning, the day of our match. We may still be able to start on time, or we may be delayed 1-3 hours while they complete their training. If we are delayed for longer than 3 hours (not likely), we may reduce the match to 40 shots instead of 60.

Last year when this happened we were delayed 2 hours, but used this time for all of our prep work and the actual firing start time was only delayed by 90 minutes, allowing us to complete the full 60-shot match.

We will have no further information on logistics until we actually arrive on Sunday morning, so if you are planning to attend, please arrive at the normal 8:00 CDT for registration.

If anything other than a perfectly executed, non-delayed, full 60-shot match would ruin your day and/or induce you to complain to the match director, please consider skipping this match. We will most likely be OK, but some of you travel great distances to attend, so I felt obligated to make you aware of all possibilities for Sunday.

See you there,

Jim Sokolowski
Franklin, TN

I didn't know if you were on the email distribution list or knew about this tracking thread, that's all. With situations like we are facing on Sunday, being in charge is not always the most fun position to be in.

Shooters,

Despite the uncertainty generated by the repeated conflict warnings from the National Guard (along with the pending storms), we had 20 brave shooters join us today (6 Sling, 7 F-Open, and 7 F-T/R). Luck was on our side, as the National Guard had already cleared out before we arrived, and we were able to complete one of our quickest-ever 60-shot matches about an hour before the storms hit.

The wind started out fairly calm in the morning, but by the afternoon we experienced many unpredictable switches that kept things interesting as the storms drew closer and the sky got darker. Any potential disappointment in match scores was mitigated by the distribution of the MidSouth Marksmen T-Shirts to all members in attendance. We also gained about 5 new members in the process. The rest of you can pick up your t-shirts at the next match you attend.

Here are the winners in each category (full results attached):

Any/Any
1. 581-22x Brock, Aubrey
2. 578-25x Sokolowski, Jim
3. 567-11x Kunz, Clyde

Any/Irons
1. 581-20x Lindebaum, Dennis
2. 543-04x Wells, Steve

F-Open
1. 578-16x Roberts, Clinton
2. 562-08x Plant, Brad
3. 559-10x Alley, Chris

F-T/R
1. 571-10x Ralston, Ronnie
2. 555-06x Hanback, Robert
3. 551-03x Ritchey, Royal

Our next MidSouth Marksmen match is the Across-the-Course State Championship event scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend on Saturday 5/24. For further details on that match, please contact Mark Long (marklong@tds.net). If the following day is not required for a Saturday rainout, there will be a standard 60-shot Mid-Range match on Sunday 5/25.

Also, there are a lot of updates and photos on the MidSouth Marksmen website you might want to check out: www.midsouthmarksmen.com

See you next time,

Jim Sokolowski
Franklin, TN

We have received notice from the National Guard that our MidSouth Marksmen Mid-Range match date of Saturday July 26, 2014 is cancelled due to a conflict with military training requirements. We should still be OK for the Long-Range match the next day (Sunday 7/27). Please see the updated schedule (attached).

Shooters,

Please be reminded that we have a Long-Range (3x20x1000) match this coming Sunday (7/27) at AEDC in Tullahoma, TN. As always, registration opens at 8:00am and closes and 8:30am (Central Time). The cost is $20 per person ($15 for MSM members) and the match is NRA Approved. This will be the last Long-Range match at AEDC before the TN/AL F-Class Long Range State Championship over Labor Day weekend.

Please bring a canopy if you have one.

Assume this match is on unless you hear from us. There will be no 24-hour advanced notice provided, so if the weather looks questionable, please make the decision that works best for you.

See you out there,

Jim Sokolowski
Franklin, TN

Quick update - The Saturday 10/25 Mid-Range date has been cancelled due to military training requirements. When we thought about the (potentially delayed) Sunday 10/26 Long-Range date, we decided to cancel this date as well so that everyone could attend the two-day Mid-Range State Championship that same weekend in Memphis.

We encourage all of you to attend the Memphis match:

For reference - please see the attached updated MSM AEDC schedule.

By the way, none of this has anything to do with the TN/AL LR F-Class State Championship at AEDC over Labor Day weekend. That match is still on as scheduled.
