What heavy .17 bulletin are you using in your .17 PPC AI?
Be sure to share a few pictures and details of that project.
Thanks
Hal
Who makes 17 ppcAI sizing die?I have a few hundred 32 and 35gr Reeds, and several hundred 30gr BlackHole’s. Fire forming I’m just using 25gr Hornady.
Sizing dies are 3-4months out from both Hornady custom or a resize reamer. Should have ordered a resize reamer when I ordered the chamber.

Cut down my 17-204 barrel and rechambered while I’m waiting for Carson to get me a new 9 twist Lilja. At least I can form brass.
Hornady will make one based off your reamer print and 3 pieces of fired brass.Who makes 17 ppcAI sizing die?
Is it a Bushing die?Hornady will make one based off your reamer print and 3 pieces of fired brass.
I'm having a resizing reamer made that is 2.5-3 thousands smaller than the chamber reamer, Newland make blanks you can ream out to make a resizing die.
They said they can do either option. Is it a Bushing die?
If I get all my brass fireformed and get antsy waiting on my resize reamer I might have to swing by and find out! LolJust curious if I get a wild hair my Whidden 20PPCAI die would work with the correct 17 cal bushing.
Getting you off the subject, is the 20 TNT as nasty as the 6MM and the 22? The 6 and the 22 are like a maypop tire. Just looking for a reason to hit a bump and explode. Hit a PD in the head and nothing left of the head but the neck bone. Here is why I think the 20PPCAI is the perfect cartridge if you wanna run 39,40 and 55's. I mocked up 2 rounds showing were my 39 TNT are I run and what a 55 would be at the exact same CBTO which is right at the lands. Mine is zero freebore.
On the left is the 39 on right is 55.
After four 20BR's (no AI version), I've averaged 900-1000 rds of barrel life (all 9-twist Kreiger or Bartlein bbls and the 55 gr Berger)...except one that went 1500 rds before changing it out (i still don't know why it went that long). That particular barrel (Bartlein) did shoot some amazing groups at 100 and 500 yds though in its earlier life.
Average was 3640 fps with the 55 gr Berger and RL-15. Only powder I ever shot. Very accurate set-up.What velocities do you shoot the 55s at in your 20BR's?
Yup, it's a worm hole....but a fun one....keeps me out of trouble elsewhere. If i was set up and could chamber barrels in my garage for myself id get in all sorts of trouble.
