Some have been made and are being tested. Quantities have not been shipped for distribution yet. We're close, within weeks.

Measured Performance:
G1 BC = 0.755 (Average from 3000 to 1500 fps)
G7 BC = 0.387 (Valid for all speeds)

Good news!

What twist rate do they need for 1.5 Sg values at say 2,700-2,900 fps, Bryan?

Hi Laurie, I will be very interested in Bryan's answer as well.

I asked Bartlein the same question and this was their answer.
By our calculations the 195 will need an absolute minimum of 8.50 @ 2800 fps. We are recommending 8.25

I have two ordered with 1-8.2 twists.

How exciting. I suspect this will be a game changer. Purely speculation but what do you guys think would be the ultimate cartridge for this? I personally cannot wait to see what the 284 win will do with this one. I'm going to sit back and eat some popcorn while this all plays out.

Thanks for that Ian. (There will likely be a wave of rebarrellings and panic barrel orders next winter then. :) )

This is just sickening. Any possibility I can wrap something around them and shoot them out of my .308 F-TR guns?

Ha! Ha! ..... I've never seen saboted ammo mentioned in FTR rules, but I bet it would be banned tout suite if somebody tried it and it actually worked well!

(Remember the Remington 'Accelerator' sabot ammo for 30-30, 308 and .30-06 with 55gn 0.224s of many years back? A friend found some 308 and it was more accurate than I expected, but hardly up to the standards of half decent .223 or .22-250.)

Or two 7mm 1-8.2 twist barrels for sale ;D ;D ;D

Bryan, here is a question for you. The 180 Hybrid needs at least a .200 freebore (more is better) and the 180 VLD's need at least a .220 freebore, what would you expect as the MINIMUM freebore necessary for the 195's? Thanks..

Ben,
When Bryan first released the bullet drawing, I calculated a .233" freebore would allow sufficient room to jump. My 7-270 WSM reamer is made with that freebore. I'm also interested to see what Bryan has been using or if the bullet has changed.

Steve, I am having a 1-8tw Shehane made up as we speak,in anticipation of this. BUT my freebore is only .220.. What is nice though is that my 'smith has ordered a 7mm Unithroater should the need arise.

I'm going to put the 28 nosler to test at extended range on steel etc. This bullet is one I'm going to test. I'll keep everyone updated with my findings. Thanks for your respond Brian litz. Shawn with north ridge rifles Helena mt.

Paper patching, it was all the rage at Creedmoor a hundred and 25 yrs ago. ;D

.024 might be a lot of wraps.

I would think that the chamber size requirement would rule out saboted ammo, i.e. 308 bore size

Which part of the 'chamber size requirement' would that be? Other than "restricted to the chambers of unmodified .308 Winchester/7.62mm NATO or unmodified .223 Remington/5.56mm X 45 NATO cartridge cases", I don't see anything that says boo about what the bullet has to look like - or what diameter it has to be, so long as its less than .35 caliber.

I am having a 7/270wsm reamer made right now based of a 180vld loaded to 3.190.

Have a carbon wrapped Saturn 8.25tw sitting in the shop and a long action Pierce TI. Would love to give them a try?

Kyle

I just finished putting my 8 twist barrel on yesterday .... chambered in 280AI can't wait for the 195 Bergers to get to my door!! Should be awesome!
