17 204 INFO NEEDED

I have a 17 204 and need a bullet seater that will not deform the shoulder. I read that a 17 VT or maybe it was 17 Practicle could be used. Any suggestions?

Could a guy just change the seater plug on a .204 seater? Use one from a 17 rem die? To

What die are you using that is deforming the shoulder? A 204 Ruger seating die shouldn't do anything to the case. If the bullet seater plug doesn't fit the 17 bullet, you can JB weld to modify seater plug interior to match your bullet ogive.

I use a Hornady 17 caliber seater. They are universal. Works perfect for my 17-204 and 17 Remington. Cheap too.

I use a Hornady 17 Cal. universal seated for my 17-204, but the die is only threaded halfway into my press. I set it up like Hornady suggested. The sliding sleeve doesn't even protrude below my press threaded hole and makes seating bullets a little difficult.

I use a 204 seater with the 204 stem, works great.
