17-204 dies.

Was wondering if a Redding 17 rod stem will work in a Redding 204 ruger die. Was thinking of buying a 204 ruger full length bushing die set, switching out the stem and using that for the 17-204 ruger. Any input or other solutions would be appreciated.

I have a few Redding FL Type S Bushing dies that I use for same case but smaller caliber cartridges and it works fine, although I don't use the button with any of my bushing dies.

B23, Somewhere along the way you need to remove the spent primer. Seems to me that since the button holds the decapping pin in place it's a necessary piece. I have a 17-204 barrel setting on my bench so I've been wondering about these things too. All advice is welcome.

There are several ways to handle 17/204 sizing. I've used a Redding 204R bushing die with the expander button replaced with a .17 cal one. I also happened to have a Redding .204R body die and Lee 17 Rem collet die on hand and use them most often. Good shooting! Vic

Vic,
Are you doing anything special to get the Lee 17 remington collet die to work on the 17-204? I've tried shimming and everyway I can think of and i always crush the shoulders of my 17-204 cases with the collet die. I thought it had to be something with the difference in shoulder angle between the 17 rem and 17-204.

I'm using a 204 FL Redding bushing die with several bushings and neck turning. No expander.

call 607-753-3331 ask for AJ and you will get the part you need...days, 9-430PM EST....

Just saying..;)
