10mm

I have been a 10mm fan for a long time but never owned one... That changed last week with a new Glock 20.... Got so lucky I never gave aways my 1400 large pistol primers when I sold my last pistol that used them years ago.... All my reloading stuff came in from midway and Dillon and actually shot some blue dot 180gr reloads a few days ago.... Ordered 500 brass from starline which will be in Monday.... I think this is going to be fun.... It's nice shooting something besides 9mm which I carry daily and own 6 of... Sometimes you just need a bigger boom to increase smile size... Merry Christmas everybody....

I live in Western Montana. There are big toothy critters in the woods up here.

People ask me what to carry for bear protection. I tell them a 10mm pistol, like a Glock, will work just fine. I am also a retailer and have become a fan of the Springfield XDm Elite in 10mm. I also recommend any revolver in a caliber that starts with 4 and can fire a magnum level load.

I also like .357 Mag with 180 grain bullets at up close to 1400 fps.

But as I said, and many others have said, a 10mm Glock or similar gun stoked with 200 grain bullets should work well for protection against big nasties.

One time in a past life I was hot after two very bad guys. I jumped into a boat and my Glock butt clipped the stock of another guy's carbine barrel and it popped out of the holster and went into the water. I jumped in and found it in the sludgy sandy bottom, shook it clean in the ocean water and stuck it back in the holster. Thats why we all used Glocks! If I lived in a place where the local wildlife could eat me then i'd have a G20.

I have heard some refer to the real early G20s first generation because they are the first iteration of the model, even though they “technically” are a Gen2 Glock due to the frame features, either way they are great! I also own one without the light rail or finger grooves and while it’s a large pistol, feels like holding a 2x4 in the hand, I love it and like you would never be without one!

Two Delta Elites here and love them.
Finished off a hog with one and finished off a couple of deer for some guys up at the camp with the other. Ones stainless the other blued.

I went to my shotgun store to re up on my skeet supplies and while I was buying powder , shot , wads etc... I asked them if they had a pound of blue dot for this 10mm he said no I only have 4 pounders... I couldn't pass it up during these times but it's enough to load a BUNCH of 10mm rounds.... I have a lot of buckshot just in case so I could use it for that also... We list prices on here for the times we're going through but I have been fairly immune so far till that day..... What normally would be $500 was $1000 now...

I am actually ashamed to say I spent that much but this place is a national dealer for alliant powders and was 16 months waiting for this last large shipment... Unfortunately the prices as you all know are stupid high....

That order was....

1 case of 1oz wads...
125lbs of magnum shot...
An 8lb jug of green dot..
A 4lb jug of blue dot...
3000 shotgun primers...

That's enough to keep me shooting skeet with my buddies for a long while with what I have left from another large order last year I think... And to load 10mm for awhile... I remember the 4 lb jug of blue dot was $120 so I figured why not that doesn't seem to crazy right now especially since there's no waiting , just buy and go home with it...

You need this to complement your G20. Takes the same G mags. I'll make you a deal ftf.

10mm was my first handgun, and being 1993 I had to reload. I've always used Blue Dot or Power Pistol anywhere from 135 to 200 grains. My first was a Springfield Armory Linkless followed by a Springfielf Omega later on. I've added a Witness Compact and Witness Limited Custom (my current favorite). I've owned a Glock 29 in the past but sold it because it was horribly unreliable and a S&W 610 which I sold because it never made it out of the safe.

Wish I could but I am in the middle of a move from Bastrop after 15 years back down south because of the taxes here and the fact both of us just retired....I can sell here and buy a lot more land and house down there around Victoria etc....
