10mm Auto Alaska Load

I will try this, slowly work up to it, ty. I’ve been following the other thread. Too stiff a load for factory 20 lb spring?

The factory spring tends to let the action open a bit too early. This is much less of a problem in a longslide like the G40, but when I had the G20, the other G20 shooters would often use the Wollff 24# setup on the non-captured guiderod.

Factory is not 20 pound !
It’s 18 pound !
I use the NDZ 22 pound spring and rod in my G20.
Underwood Ammo works great in it.
I handload but my loads are not quite as hot but just under Underwood Vel levels.
I went ahead and installed a KKM 4.6” barrel also on my G20 for a tad better case support.

If the 12 ga is unavailable I'll shoot the 480 Ruger SBH until it goes click. My reload will be to pull my Glock 40 and go until the brass stops flying if needed. ;)

Quest 450

I have a gen 4 G20 but I was always curious how much additional energy that 1.4" of barrel on G40 gives you?

Also the new Gen 5 barrels are supposedly fine to shoot the hardcast lead ammo out of.

I know some guys shoot it out of the Gen 3, & 4's and say its fine?

Still the Glock barrels don’t have the case support !
The real reason to upgrade barrels. The Glock barrels could always shoot Hardcast coated or Gas Check but Soft lead bullets not recommended in any Glock .

My trail pistol for Alaska is a G20 with the standard length barrel 4.6”. I prefer it over the excellent G40 and 6”. The G40 with 200gr Underwood you should break the 700 FPE level in performance.
