This is the challenge off o predatormasters. Was a fun one. Made it just competitive enough to make you go do it!

Time to put up or shut up for the bolt action guys! All the sub MOA talking guys will have a chance to SHOW actual proof they are truly sub MOA rifles and shooters!!

This is for Bolt actions only! FREE TARGETS HERE Scroll down about half way and there is 3 different targets that work perfect!(LEE targets)

Rules are simple

1. Must be shot with a bolt action rifle. Does not matter what caliber it is. 17HMR all the way to 50BMG!

2. Must have 6 different targets with 5 shots on each target for a total of 30 shots all on one sheet paper or board. Must be able to clearly see 6 different aiming points. And shot at 100 yards all with the same ammo/load. (Bushy will be grandfathered in as his was posted before this became a problem as will anyone else that post today 9/23) Thanks Bushy! lol j/k wink

3. No gun vises allowed! Bipods, monopods, front or rear bags are allowed. If your rest allows you to just simply pull the trigger without looking through the scope at the same time please save your ammo for your benchrest comps!!! If your not sure if your rest is allowed just ask.

4. Has to be shot in 24 hours time! If it takes you 10 mins to get all 30 shots that is fine, If it takes you 23 hrs and 59 mins that is fine also.

5. Post pics of your rifle, target, and a close up of your best group. Targets must have group size written down where it can easily be read on all groups. Pic of your best group must have caliber in it measuring the group. No rulers, tape measures, loose change in your pocket! Calibers only. So your post should have at least 3 pics.

6. Tells us how you shot your groups. Bench, standing, prone, jumping out of a air plane.... Also give some details about your rifle and ammo used. If you roll your own you can post your data if you like but at least mention the weight of the bullet and the brand.

7. Be honest with yourself and others! DO NOT disrespect others that post in this thread.

8. The most important rule of them all!! Have fun while shooting for this comp. No money to be gained or lost, no one will come and take your first born child so there is no reason not to have fun while doing this right??? And no matter how many times you ask no one will take your wife if you win or loose so please don't ask! lol

9. No cheaters allowed

10. Post your avg. group size. To find your avg group size add up all 6 groups size and then divide them by 6 = Avg group size. I.E. .359,.758,1.235,.073,.677,.524= 3.626/6=.604
So your Avg. would be .604

Also be consistent when measuring your groups! If you measure center to center don't switch outside to outside - bullet dim.

Even if you know your not a sub MOA shooter please try this and post your pics. You will earn more respect then the people that just talk the talk and don't walk the walk!

P.S. If I see anyone who post about them or their rifles being sub MOA and hasn't put a target up in this thread I will call you on your bluff! Let your targets do the talking instead of your dam mouth or fingers for once!!! Just saying. sneaky2

Please make sure your group sizes are easy to read! Also if you see a math error on my part please correct me or any error on the leader boards.

Hey nasty, would you consider a smaller overall round count. Like 4 groups of 5 shots, it makes it a little cheaper and less time in the loading process. I believe it would also increase participation. 20 in a row is still good enough to prove shooter, rifle, load ect.

No adjustable rests? Does this mean groups must be fired from sand bags, freehand...or what?

i certainly wouldn't go to the trouble of doing this if I was not able to shoot on my normal rest.

My money says it will be a tie among multiple shooters who post 0.009 " or SMALLER group aggs. ::)

Sandbags, or bipod as there is a distinct advantage w an adjustable rest. Also eliminates the need to go buy an adjustable rest if you don't have one. Just evens the field in one aspect.

Well, I guess windflags are out of the question since most people think they are lawn ornaments, and don't have a clue on how to read them.
On the adjustable rest thing, since there is essentially no time limit where speed between shots to stay with a desired condition is not critical and the 5 targets are to be close together on one sheet of paper, not sure how an adjustable rest is an advantage. Many Benchrest matches have been won, and records set by shooters simply squeezing the rear bag for sight adjustment.

Not really. The biggest advantage IMO is with the coax rests and being able to quickly navigate the target and adjustability. Sandbags can work very well, though. Problem is, guns shoot differently with simply varying how much sand is in the front bag of a rest, so, it may or may not shoot it's best off of bags vs. a rest. It's your game. Do it as you wish. The better guns are generally shot from some sort of rest, though. Biggest problem is these rifles are purposely built within sets of rules that allow and accommodate a rest. You'll alienate several on this site by not allowing a front rest and rear bag, similar to what they already have and use. OTOH, if you want this to be a game for hunting and/or tactical rifles, the rule will be fine for most of those shooters. Just not BR or f-open type guns, which are the pinnacle of rifle accuracy ,respectively.--Mike

we should be asked to send in a picture of our rifle and shooting bench and sand bags,,,,sort of a rifle 'selfie',,,that way we culd see the equipment and share what is working so well for us,,,,Roger

Probably better limit it to factory ammunition also. After all, that would eliminate the need for those who don't handload to go out and buy a reloading press. You know, even things out. OK, sarcasm off. Just shoot the targets off a rest, bag, bipod, bench, car hood, truck endgate or whatever else you normally use.

It's not my post or challenge. It's one that got started by member fm powder. You can use what ever rest you want so long as it's not cradling the rifle. There's no fun in that. You can use any weapon you want. There was a seperate for semiauto rifles too. The 6 strings was because people kept claiming there rifle could do it. I did it a few times with different rifles. Really 25 or 30 shots is no different. If you reload or buy factory it's not much different. The idea behind it is to see who could fire a string of shots on one target and hold group size. I did my with a tack driver bag and a rear bag. I did it with a bipod and rear bag. There's members that did it over the hood of their truck. It's meant to prove it to yourself that you can do it with your rifle. I'm in a few spots on the list. I don't even have either rifles anymore. I'd do it with my 7-08 and 7 mag now. Maybe after hunting season is over? This isn't even my post lol

Well, I checked it out. That tread is over 2 years old .....and very few entries. Exactly the same concerns that were brought up here. The same reasons that a Factory Class was never officially recognized in organized BENCHREST, (IBS, NBRSA) ......no one can agree on the rules, and enforcement of the rules would be too burdensome. FWIW, most IBS registered matches welcome shooters to participate in a Factory Class, the only caveat being the only awards will be at the club level, and not recognized on a National level.

Alright, I'm gonna get flamed here but it's for a good cause. I was a big hide fan and came here often. But what I loved the most was the 100 yd challenge. Not only because of how well it was put together and ran, and not only cause it was fun, but it's because it's where the talKing stopped and the shooting started. I know a lot of guys here don't like the hide and that's fine, I just wanted to keep the 100 yd challenge going for these reasons. I mentioned a few things to try to get it going, as I don't want to run it I just want to shoot. I don't know why there is so much problem using the same basic rules and outline over here. Talking about shooting and guns is great I love it, but at the end of the day, I like many others what to see where I stand w my favorite rifle, loading ability, target reading ability, and overall varible control. I also like many others do not have a formal range or access to one. Just trying to compete the easiest and fairest way possible.
That's all, lazer
