  2. Wyoming& 338 Lapua

Is H1000 suitable for .338? Using it for 6CM, but didn't think it would work in .338?

  6. Bridgeville Del. 600 yard matches

NRA bucks. Great match, great people...and they keep gentleman's hours for the 600 yard matches on Sunday (0900 showtime, 1000 shoot).
  7. Case trimming advice

Just so we're on the same page: pistol brass doesn't need to be trimmed (it actually shrinks with repeated firings). If you're shooting military brass, your assumption about trimming is likely not true...Lake City brass tends to run long (some over 1.760 even before firing), so I'd trim back...
  8. 308 reamer for an FTR rifle

I just did exactly that (called Dave Kiff), and the recommendation he gave me for the same scenario (Palma plus heavier long range bullets) was the Middleton Tomkins .308 reamer...just got it a little while ago and haven't finished a chamber yet, so I can't give a report. It was $167 plus shipping.
  9. 223 wylde

Competition reamer/chamber that allows you to long load the 80 grainers and still shoot magazine length bullets accurately.
  10. Lant Fleet & All Navy Matches 4/9-4/22 Quantico, VA

  11. Sub moa at 600

1 MOA= 1.047" at 100 yards. At 600 that's 6.282, so .75 * 6.282 = 4.71"...in and IDEAL world, in a no-wind tunnel, and loads that can maintain their consistent velocity at 600. In other words, there's no book answer to the question...and there are 200 pound brains that can answer this better...
  12. broken sears in jewell triggers

I had this exact problem as well (except only 1 sear). Talked with some folks at the range who do a lot of fireforming, and they said the violence of case expansion on the bolt slams the trigger bar, which is transmitted to the whole trigger. Changed triggers to the original Remington for all...
  13. Question: Does shooting heavy bullets reduce barrel life?

I'll throw my two cents in...no. Most 5.56 is loaded on the higher end of SAAMI specs (55k C.U.P.?), so going down to a lighter bullet (conceivably to get more velocity), burns even more powder than shooting a heavier bullet with less powder...but it's the heat and pressure that does the barrel...
  14. Reloader 17 please share experience

I tried 17 on both .308 and 6BRX to see how it compared with 15 and Varget. I averaged 180 f.p.s. slower on both guns. Accuracy wasn't bad, but it wasn't as good as 15, which I suppose is strictly because of the velocity difference.
  15. Machining an external bolt release

Both the Stiller and the Defiance Machine are good looking solutions...contacted both. I'll take pictures when it's done and post.
  16. Machining an external bolt release

I want to install an external bolt release on a Remington 700. I looked through Brownells and MidwayUSA for the parts, but couldn't find them. I know they exist, because I've seen it on a number of Remingtons...does anyone sell the parts, or are they all custom made? Has anyone machined an...
  17. Remington 700 action work for a Tube Gun Project

Go with the Eliseo I have both the MAK and Eliseo kits. For nearly every application, I prefer the Eliseo kit. It is definitely more value for your money (2 magazines and a sled, a handstop, and a buttstock, none of which you get with the MAK), you don't have to glue the action in, and the...
  18. New Question, Russian primers

Actually, it's quite the opposite in my experience. Whereas I was piercing Federal 205M primers, I switched to Wolf Small Rifle Magnum primers and have no pierced primers with the same load (6BRX). The lore is that they were made for Russian guns, which have (sledge)hammers and firing pins!
  19. 6.5x47 in ar-15

I'm one of those guys with more time than brains, and just built a 6BRX AR-15. I'd recommend the AR Performance bolt and barrel extension, as they are beefed up...the only other option out there as far as I know is the Olympic Arms, which is what BRAT is using (BR Armament Technologies). It...
  20. NRA Supports China

Okay, I'm going to step on a landmine here and ask a question: One of the founding principles that makes a democracy great is a free market economy...capitalism. Capitalism is providing the best product at the cheapest price, at which point market forces will flow towards you. If you are...
