Planning on building a tube gun on a Remington 700 action and have a few questions. I picked up a near new receiver without a bolt at a very reasonable price. I plan on purchasing a tight fitting bolt body from PTG and handle with a Sako extractor setup. It is going to be chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua in a MAK or Eleseo Tube gun fed by ACIS mags.
Original was going to use a custom action but decided I would try to keep this one on a better budget then my Bench gun. When the barrel is chambered the receiver will have just some basic work done like truing the face, lugs, threads, ect.
Here are a few questions I have.
Can I use a coned face bolt? Or use the standard? Pros/cons? I see they are used in T2000 and some tactical actions and still feed.
Which would be the best firing pin assembly to install in it? (use the one from PTG?)
It will be used for fun/varmint shoots from 100-600 yards and some predator hunting.
Advice wanted please.
Thanks,
Dallas
