Remington 700 action work for a Tube Gun Project

Planning on building a tube gun on a Remington 700 action and have a few questions. I picked up a near new receiver without a bolt at a very reasonable price. I plan on purchasing a tight fitting bolt body from PTG and handle with a Sako extractor setup. It is going to be chambered in 6.5x47 Lapua in a MAK or Eleseo Tube gun fed by ACIS mags.

Original was going to use a custom action but decided I would try to keep this one on a better budget then my Bench gun. When the barrel is chambered the receiver will have just some basic work done like truing the face, lugs, threads, ect.

Here are a few questions I have.

Can I use a coned face bolt? Or use the standard? Pros/cons? I see they are used in T2000 and some tactical actions and still feed.

Which would be the best firing pin assembly to install in it? (use the one from PTG?)

It will be used for fun/varmint shoots from 100-600 yards and some predator hunting.

Advice wanted please.

Thanks,
Dallas

Go with the Eliseo

I have both the MAK and Eliseo kits. For nearly every application, I prefer the Eliseo kit. It is definitely more value for your money (2 magazines and a sled, a handstop, and a buttstock, none of which you get with the MAK), you don't have to glue the action in, and the choices of colors is amazing (we all know it's about how you look, not how you shoot, right?!). Gary Eliseo is easy to talk to if you have any problems. As far as the bolt, I bought a soup-to-nuts bolt from PT&G and was very pleased with it...didn't bother with a coned face, as I don't see that it buys you anything, but it fits like a custom. Good luck!

I would make sure that the bolt has an .062 firing pin for the small rifle primers. It will handle the pressures better.
