Rant #1... Retail Gun store inventory

Ten gunshops in the Boise metro area. Including a Cabelas's & Scheels. Only Scheels had a LEE hand priming tool. Made a 2 hour loop to get there. Get the tool, come home, and find it had been sold, taken home and opened and the small primer tool had been installed. Lg primer unit was missing. Called Scheels and got the dilligaf response. Called LEE's and they are sending me a new Lg unit free. But, 10-12 days wait. And God help me, it is coming via US Mail.

Rant over...

Is it a wonder so many shooters are going to the mail order route these days?

Yeah... gun shops rarely have anything I want or need. That's the biggest thing that keeps me from going to gun shops.

And... I always factor in the cost of gas and my time spent driving to the cost of anything I buy there. Makes a $30 gun store purchase cost over $100..

This is my experience as well and the primary reason 99% of my purchases are from online sellers.

Since it's coming USPS I'll pray for you. My latest purchase only had to travel 350mi and took 18 days!

To some extent that goes for gun shows too. Mostly a waste of time and money. The only exception is once in awhile a bunch of us go and we make a day out of it. The admission fee is enough for cheap entertainment and lots of laughs looking at all of the outrageous prices, cheap chicom optics, and low budget jewelry.

Fortunately I have a fair supply on hand.
No desire to purchase any more firearms.
I’d like a barrel but I’m not willing to go through the shipping pains. 3 local gun stores here. 2 think they are doing you a favor and lots of misinformation so I only use the one. I’d like to go back to sailing I think. Just tired of all the BS with the shooting. And it’s not the price.

Yeah, I think I've got all the guns I'll ever own right now and I'm ready to get more into off-roading with my Jeep Wrangler rather than dealing with anti-gun zealots and unconstitutional politicians.

40 plus years of dealing with both just has me worn out

When you deal with companies like Scheels and Cabela, you don't get knowledgeable people, and sometimes same with smaller stores. Not many small dealers anymore that know their business plus those that do have a hard time surviving these days. Most of the people walking in use them for free info, then buy online, trying the get both info and prices as cheap as they can. Customers aren't necessarily blameless in this equation.

Me too. I haven’t hunted in years. Do have lots of hunting rifles that haven’t been shot in decades. Not selling anything, which I think I can take them with me! No one in my family has the slightest interest. Strictly 100 BR shooting. But I really am tired with all the hassle.
Think they’ll figure out a way to regulate sail boat racing ?

Last gun I bought was from a small dealer and it was refreshing . Had alot of stuff in that little store. Naturally I wanted something he didnt have in stock had to order it but it was nice to look at the guns. Like old times. Doug

Talk about clueless gun shop counter help, I bought a Kelbly's receiver from a friend of mine. We went to a local gun shop to do the transfer. When I laid it on the counter so he could get the serial number he told me I didn't need a transfer since it wasn't a lower. He then proceeded to mark it as a handgun on the 4473. i could go on but it seems a lot of the help is just looking for a part time job without any effort on their part.

I quit going to gunshows when I saw a Mary Kay cosmetics booth.

Wow! You have to do a 4473 on a private sale where you're at?
