Ar 15 barrel at Urbarrifleman

If you took a factory built Colt M16 or M4, they were not very accurate out of the box. The military decided to modify them for higher accuracy and put some glass on top, as a Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR). The Mod 0 and 1 had 18" barrels, Mod H had the 16"

Picture of my Mk 12 Mod 1, that is not 100% clone correct, but close

That's a Douglas barrel and it shoots great.
I love the looks of a mod 0

Buddy has a really accurate clone with the proper Allen engineering/ops inc can on it.

Got it.

So, what would be the OD under the gas block for service rifle? Just go 1"?
Whatever White Oak, Bison Armory or Satern/liberty contour their barrel before the .750 gas block is what I use. Oh and if your barrels start winning the President 100 or NIT match majority of service rifle shooters would probably switch to your barrel.

Another smart AR barrel is a 20” 22ARC 090fb with 3” gas.
Anyone running a suppressor will find the longer gas system runs cleaner and quieter. Treat that suppressor like 4-6” more barrel in terms of port timing.
I shot my 24” 22arc yesterday for the first time suppressed,,,,,,wow!
Me likey!
Mine has a +1 rifle gas system and a similar sized port.

I have no doubt whatsoever that these barrels will be outstanding. Whether a big shooter will switch to one, I could only hope.

With the introduction of the Bear Creek Arsenal Bolt action AR uppers, you have a golden opportunity to flood the AR market with higher quality barrels that could be made into a bolt action upper.

If you can get James Fox, Conrad Young to use your barrels that would definitely help promoting your barrels.

And priced right $245-$275 before shipping. I definitely give one a try.

1998 prices probably can't happen. Sorry.

I'm thinking they will be the same $319 as my bolt rifle barrels ($419 threaded muzzle). And actually they should be more since you have to invest in a quality barrel extension.

The reason I never got into ar15 barrels is exactly the reason that the prices are supposed to stay at 25 years ago pricing.

A "premium" barrel blank for a bolt gun is $450 and a gunsmith charges $400 (min) to machine it, but a match ar15 barrel is supposed to be $250.

You might have a hard time selling a barrel for that, now get some big wins under the barrel probably sell like hot cakes. By big wins talking national matches at Camp Perry that’s where your barrel will get street cred. WOA sells their for $275 before shipping. Bison Armory selling theirs $245 before shipping. I have no idea what kind of deal WOA has with Wilson barrels to keep prices at $275. Both those prices are for post and pre ban barrels.

I'd bet WOA Wilson have won more than a few big matches. They also sell a bunch of 6XC for the Tubb 2K - those shooters expect a high performing barrel.

I've often wondered how WOA sells their Wilson barrels at their price and make money.

WOA definitely king of the service rifle barrels.

Economy of scale. Palmetto State Armory cranks out 2000 barrels a day. I have experience with three of their stainless barrels and they shoot way better than the price reflects.

That is why I was suggesting the clone market and others the service rifle applications.
