Heavy .223 bullets in AR-15 (Mag Length)

FWIW, I've seen 20 round milspec mags with a cut down the face to allow 80 grain Sierras to be run.
They were the property of a pretty salty AMU shooter.
 
Vihta Vouri N500 series powders will give you more velocity. The N530 looks to be about the right speed, N540 would probably be too slow.
Upon further review it seems N540 may be the sauce. At least I hope so. I just bought two pounds and 500 69gr TMK's. :)

N540 is good in shorter barrels like a 20" service rifle, but N550 makes higher speeds in my 28" spacegun. I shoot 75 gr A-Max (single load) and BTHP (magazine-fed) at 2930 fps; heavier bullets make minor improvements in drift at sane pressure levels. The velocities claimed by some for 80-90 gr loads require scary pressures.
