Ingenuity Precision powder trickler

It’s my opinion that the V4 is currently THE BEST option for powder dispensing on the market today. Hands down better than the SuperTrickler (again IMO, and I use both), or any other “out of the box” brand dispenser from RCBS, Hornady, FA etc. Yes, the IP Trickler can be used with the V4 but from what I’ve seen it’s somewhat clunky and you’re not really gaining a lot with it. I do believe the IP System will likely be all it’s hyped up to be, it’s just…. When?? The ATV4 is out there right now. It’s a fantastic machine. I believe it’s an incredibly smart design and extremely well built and robust. Will no doubt last years and years with minimal maintenance. I love mine, it’s truly a great dispenser, but like any other dispenser if you “push” the settings for speed it can become a little unreliable (just more over throws). Personally I am content with 10-15 second powder throws, and I can EASILY set up my ATV4 to do that with practically no over throws. All that and it’s about HALF the price of what you’ll pay for a ST or an IP (if the IP ever truly comes to market).
 
Ha, and here I am with an adams V1 trickling away... looking at the clock waiting for a charge. I kinda want the V4..


What website are yall getting that powder cup from? I need one bad..

I just ordered the IP trickler and controller about a week ago with the thought of going to this setup.
Any gotcha's or watch outs I should be aware of? Do you use it on the range to reload? If so, then how well does the windscreen work? I do 90% of my reloading on the range with my current ST setup and it gets kind of stressful during a match when the wind picks up. Thoughts on the T3 thrower vs the AT4?

I load only at home, I have no idea how well the setup will work in the wild.
I have an AT V4/IP trickler combo that is currently sitting on the shelf. I really like the T3/IP trickler combo I have as well as the AT V3/IP trickler combo I have.
I don't know if Paul still offers the IP trickler stand that is shown in the V4/IP trickler pic. Give him a call.

Here’s my setup using the AT V4 as a “thrower only”, along with IP trickler and cup, JustDreaming’s housing/riser, and the IP controller running everything. It’s perfect for me I’ll never upgrade (6-9 sec throws). You’d have the complete V4 as a backup if the IP ever goes down. There are less expensive thrower option(s) however I forget the source.

I've had my V4 3 years now and have been totally satisfied. Like you I don't push for absolute speed. I tune for the powder being used and the 10-15 second speeds you reference I am getting 96% accuracy to .02 grain although I accept .04 grain over as with the powders I use that is 1-2 kernels of powder. Insignificant.

You can get +\- 0.01 pretty easily using the IP Trickler when controlled by either the AT V4 app or the IP Controller (box on left in pics). For example just reject the + 0.02 throws (dump a kernel from the IP cup, it’s fast), keeping the -0.02 and zero throws.

As for why upgrade to IP vs use AT V4, I think most folks like the IP trickler better, and the IP Controller is a plus IMO, a better algorithm and faster throw times. So quite a few folks are running a hybrid setup. And lots of other folks perfectly happy running straight AT V4. Both are outstanding.
 
I purchased the IP system minus the thrower in August of last year to work with my V3. Everything worked fine until the motor on the Trickler froze up. Paul sent me a new motor and that’s when my issues with this system began. We spent the better part of a day going back and forth on the phone trying to figure out why. The Trickler kept throwing .05 over the designated weight. Paul finally said send the controller and all cords back to him and he would replace them. He called about a week later and said that I had forgotten to send the power cord for the controller. He said he ran the system with a new power cord and it worked perfectly every time so he was sending it back with the new cord. I received the controller and new power cord and set everything back up. Still throwing 0.05 over every time.
I ordered a V4 yesterday and don’t intend to use the IP as it has been frustrating to deal with and the developer can be a bit too sarcastic for this 76 year old man. I too was on the list from 12/2023 waiting for the “whole” system to be produced. I think there are better options with less hassle out there. JMTCW

I see. I don't need the speed and my V4 hardly ever is more than .02 off. Close enough in SR BR. So I'm good.
