Curious if you have checked barrel clearance in the stock?I have money to build this, or buy something new. I would love to do both, but would prefer to do the build.
This is the culprit. It’s already in a Boyd’s pro varmint stock. I put a different bolt knob on it, and also threaded the end of the barrel for a brake. It has a budget vortex scope on it.

I’m not really concerned with that. I intend to clearance the stock for whatever barrel profile I get.Curious if you have checked barrel clearance in the stock?
What caliber did you decide on?Can you guys recommend a die set?
Whidden! Great quality! Mine have performed flawlessly. Can you guys recommend a die set?
That’s going to be a lot of fun! It’s going to be 6br. I ordered some Peterson brass to whet my whistle.
For a DIY solution, assuming you have some knowledge on how-to, contact @urbanrifleman about one of his barrel nut barrels. I'm sure he would be happy to talk to you about them.I have an old beat up Rem 700 30-06 that just sits in my safe, I do not enjoy shooting it. It's an old ADL hunting rifle.
Lately I've been thinking about rebarreling to something more enjoyable to shoot. I primarily only target shoot. Max is about 200yds. I've been reading about 6BR, and think that would be a neat choice. I do hand load, so a lack of factory ammo is not an issue.
Now the tricky part.
Is this something that I can achieve with off the shelf parts? Or is it 100% necessary to have a smith put this together. I'm not looking for precision, and I'm not afraid to buy some tools.
I plan on giving him a call this week. I want to get one of his barrel vises as well. For a DIY solution, assuming you have some knowledge on how-to, contact @urbanrifleman about one of his barrel nut barrels. I'm sure he would be happy to talk to you about them.
I doubt you would ever use the neck die in that set. I like the Forster sizing die with the higher set expander, then maybe a micrometer seating die of your choice.https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1010946147?pid=317718I don’t want to spend a fortune on dies, I don’t shoot competitively. I’m thinking this Redding set will be just fine.

I mostly use a sizing die that has interchangeable bushings. Look for bushing dies. They allow you to vary neck tension or deal with different neck thickness of different manufacturers brass.
