USPS, UPS, FEDEX-DELAYS ACROSS THE BOARD

I can't sleep this evening and this has been bothering me. We all know it's Christmas time and all the big delivery companies are busy busy busy. I had a fellow member here call me out on a scope that he thought I didn't ship out and then I ghosted him. I have great feedback and I always try to ship timely. However we don't have control over the companies that are shipping our goods from state to state. I'd like to point out several examples.
I purchased some Lapua Brass from a member here. He sent me tracking ID on November 30th. He shipped USPS Priority and I received the brass 12/12/25.
Another member purchased some 9mm bullets from me. Sent check on November 30 by snail mail and I still haven't seen it.
I'm not upset about these delays because I get it. I've been with FedEx in some way shape or form for going on 24 years. Currently in our local terminal we are 20,000 packages behind. This was primarily due to snow that hit last Tuesday and it hit again today. We were just getting dug out from all the packages until today hit. Tomorrow is going to be about the same as today so we aren't getting ahead one bit. I haven't seen the local terminal this far behind since Christmas of 2020.
Just wanted to vent this evening. Let's all be patient this time of year. Merry Christmas!!!!

This time of year, expect at least 2 weeks for delivery when it would usually take a week tops. Just the way it is with the exuberant amount of packages being sent with the holidays, and THEN you throw the weather into play. Literally nothing anyone can do about it. My best advice is don't buy or sell anything this time of year of you are impatient haha.

Knock on wood most mine have been good, I have a sale shipped that is getting a lot of frequent flyer miles I would like the points on.
I get it and agree just a rough time year for all shipping, insurance is recommended on high dollar items.

We all get it's a busy time of year and be patient but of the big 3 you mentioned during the entire rest of the year they still suck big time.
How about shipping priority mail overnight at a significant cost and the response "if it will be there the next day" is always the same " We can't guarantee it will."
I've had stuff shipped priority overnight that took 5 days, ask for a refund and it's sorry about your luck !
Fedex is a little better time wise but don't ever file a lost package insurance claim.
I sold a rest a couple years ago and FedEx lost it after the first day at a terminal not 50 miles from me.
I had a friend who was a contract carrier for them that helped me track it down 2 weeks later and without him I never would have got it to it's destination.
I had additional insurance to cover the $2.000.00 value and filed a claim 8 days after finding out they lost it and on day 11 was told the claim was denied.
With the help of my friend and his connections in FedEx he found out they denied the claim 2 days before I even filed it !
Long story short they finally found it and delivered it where it was supposed to go but it just shows what BS and Incompetency we have to deal with for the big 3 carriers.
Most of the people and shops we in the shooting community deal with are the best of the best in customer service the rest of the country not so much !
MY RANT OVER.

I deliver propane to people’s homes for home heating, etc. We are currently at least a week out for deliveries. Add the butt load of snow we are getting here in the north western part of Pennsylvania, people not taking care of their driveways, lanes, people not ordering gas in plenty of time like we ask them to etc. Slow travel times for the trucks on bad roads. It all adds up into lengthy wait times. Most people want their packages or their propane yesterday not maybe tomorrow. Confucius say “plan ahead of the curve and be patient“

This time of year you have to expect delays, delivery issues unfortunately. The other 11 months of the year though, all of the carriers seem to be failing more often and all make it near impossible to contact them and even more difficult to get any resolution. Just try to get refunded for a week late delivery, impossible! If you went to a restaurant and paid a similar price for a meal that was served several hours late would you pay for it? Government should mandate 20% of a shipping charge is held in escrow until delivery made with a percentage removed each day it is late!!!

Our delivery driver at work, works part-time at UPS, and he said that they average 18-20 thousand packages a day, and they are now seeing 30-thousand plus coming in daily. Drivers can only work 13 hours, and when they get a truckload of 200 delivery points every day, they start coming back with stuff still in their trucks, which apparently gets no priority, it just gets recycled into the next days loading. Kid says one of the head-honchos came down last week and gave everybody a motivational ass-chewing.. which I'm sure improved everybody's attitudes ...

This time of year between Flea Bay, Amazon, Black Friday, and
Internet Monday sales, it's the perfect storm leading to Christmas.
And in my home town, the winter weather does not help. Other
then items that I know will not arrive until well after the first of the
year, like a barrel or a reamer, I just pay cash for something local
I can pick up. Other then incoming bills delivered on time from USPS,
I cut the delivery and shipping systems out of my life until into January.
Christmas shopping is always done local, and that's mostly at the Credit
Union. The grand kids prefer cash nowadays, and i don't have to wrap
it....LOL

Buying Shipping and Pay extra ????
I am a long time Midway Customer....
I placed a order on Dec.2 at check out it offered $8.00 priority Shipping with a sooner date. I went for it.
Then on the order they now have $1.35 handling/Insurance charge.

I still to not have my order. I called Customer Service. The nice happy man told me well its the Holidays. I asked about the the $1.35 charge ? That is for the Insurance company that will handle your lost or damage order. It could take much long going directly to us.

As of 05:30 this AM Package do Dec.18 by 9:00 PM.

You are smart than ont Fuj. For real.

In the neighborhood where my wife and I spend the winter, UPS & FedX both routinely deliver to the wrong address. All streets have proper signs, each lot is well numbered. The delivery drivers routinely where the goddess of GPS says to deliver, regardless whether or not GPS and proper addresses correlate.......... And then there's the Wally World delivery drivers and grocery orders...... Rarely do they get to the correct address. This is year 'round these parts folks......

usps is SNAIL mail all year. Tomy Mc

I bought 10K primers from Mid-South. Shipped immediately and FedEX sent me
email that delivery 12/10/25 and need signature. Stayed home all day...nothing.
Today is 12/14/25 and still in Knoxvlle Tn. Mid South has been great....answered the
phone on first ring twice.....friendly people that speak perfect English. If nothing
next week said they would file claim. Impressed with Mid South...not so much with
Fed Ex.

When we had our business I used to cringe at holiday time. I knew we'd get upset customers that didn't get their packages before Christmas. And that was with the 'old' USPS, the really reliable one :) They used to have a 'guaranteed by Christmas' date. If you shipped before then it would get there.....barring any horrible weather. They almost always came through for us. We'd send a note to folks who ordered after that date and warned them it would get there after, then gave them the option to cancel the order. Most didn't care, but, a few did (they were buying gifts for loved ones). One we sent them a picture of the item so it could be put under the tree. Cute idea.

Now days it is just shipping presents to kids/grandkids. We went the cash route again as well. Wife calls it the 'Gift of Shopping'. The good thing is we can send a Priority Mail envelope with the cards and cash well before the shipping crunch.

A fine gentleman and I swapped firearms. WE both shipped them on the same day. Colorado to Missouri,
and Missouri to Colorado.
I received his package in 4 days. My package to him took almost 2 weeks.
This was in the last 2 weeks. My package to him Sat in Denver for over a week.

Yep! My stock was paid for to arrive Thursday, then a UPS update to Friday 1-3PM, then sometime yesterday, now Monday from 1-3pm.

We shall see...

Mailed 3 parcels off to a member on December 5th…..Priority Mail for all three. Two boxes filled with brass, dies and other 6 BR-A/.223 AI Savage stuff made it to him in Ohio on time. The current location of the Shilen barrel, however, remains unknown.

Bought an item on E-BAY from Michigan, 3 days later I did another E-BAY purchase from Puerto Rico and thought it would be awhile before it arrived. The first item arrived 4 days after the second one and both sellers had shipped it within a day of purchase. Never know with shipping.
