Kauger for midrange f-class

I've only seen 1 kauger action in f-class matches that I attended.

Let me hear the pros and cons of using a brii or a briii at midrange f-class using a dasher or a x47 case. 30", 1.250" barrel.

I'm bedding a BRII into a Kestros right at this moment. It's in the shop right now, waiting for the epoxy to cure. I'm going to chamber a couple of barrels, one in 6mm Dasher (30", 1:8" twist Brux) and the other in 7mm Walker (32", 1:8.5" Brux). Dasher for midrange, the Walker as a LR back-up. I'll be able to put a 10-50x60 Sightron SVED on it and make weight. A Bix Competition two-stage works beautifully on the action. I'll let you know in a week or two....

It's a very nice action. I'm going to grab a magnum bolt head for it one of these days as well.

I just picked up my barreled action from my gunsmith. Not a BR but a CRS 2 single shot with trigger hanger. I originally purchased this as a backup action. I am moving to a short magnum for 1K F-class and wanted something that was a R700 footprint. I still need to skim bed it but I pulled the R700 out of my Kestros, swapped the Jewel trigger in and it dropped right in to the stock. My original idea was to use if as a backup while I collected parts for another rifle, but this thing is smooth. I won’t know how it shoots until next weekend but I am impressed. It is attractively priced and my gunsmith had it in 3 days.

The Kauger are not heavy enough. With up to 22 LBS in Open shooter want all the weight they can get. I think Kauger would be an awesome action for FTR in F Class though a friend is building one this winter.

I have two left feed, drop port Kaugers {6 BRA & 6 GT} with a R700 footprint and exchangeable bolt faces. They are great people to deal with. They offer a selection of R or L feeds, dual port, and drop port along with a choice of bolt spirals. Smooth action at a reasonable price.

How did you get a CR2 single shot, don’t see that option?

If you call Kauger they will make any action a single shot, just got to ask.
I'm slowly switching everything i own to kauger. They are as capable as any action around. From the VPR actions to the BRIIIs. All have proven to be variable of winning matches. I have 4 VPRs of various lengths and several BRIIIs, from LPRB to drop ports. I've won a couple club matches with them. Heavy gun is a VPR and I've held .25 moa all the way out to 1000.

Building a lightweight hunting gun on the VPR elite currently.

I think they’re excellent actions. I’ve got a BRIII with .308 and PPC bolt heads. Just be careful when you bed them. If the bedding epoxy gets over the load port/beveled edges, you’ll have a difficult time getting the action out without damage to a wood stock. Ask me how I know…

I have 2 kauger BRII, both short range bench guns. Probably my favorite actions. They are incredibly smooth, light bolt lift, and Kauger arms are a pleasure to deal with. I had a stock maker hammer the sides of my loading and ejection port with what looked like a Dremel and it looked awful. I talked with kauger arms and they beveled the edges and sent it to be nitrided again for like $50.

They'll have a 10 percent off sale coming up this week for black Friday as well.

CRS are meant for mag feeding, If you want single shot go to the VPR
Kauger's competition actions in the CRS and BR line are the same and tighter bolt to raceway clearance's than the VPR series from my understanding. Someone with a set of feeler gauges could confirm this, but I would liken it to the panda vs the atlas tac as far as that goes. The VPR is a hunting action. I wouldn't get a VPR if I'm building a rifle to compete with. Why handicap yourself?

My VPR long action shoots just as good as my BRIII

Not saying it doesn't, but comparing the two is apples to oranges, and Kauger Arms will tell you the same because I've asked. If anyone is using a Kauger for comp use I'd be willing to wager 99 percent are using CRS or BR line.

Nice guys? Kauger Arms is only 20 minutes from the house. They have built a half dozen rifles and a pistol for me. I shot my pistol at the Sharp Shooter - Laura Kauger memorial last year, first time that I ever went to a real gun range. After seeing all the high tech bench guns everyone had I decided that I wanted one. Now I have 3 and another on the way. Shooting matches is very addictive and a deep rabbit hole. Thanks to Tim Kauger my wife and I bought a camper and are having a great time traveling, shooting and meeting new people. This year I'm shooting 5-6 spring matches out west and another 4-5 in the fall, and as many local matches as possible in-between. Shooting beats the he'll out of playing golf.

Cover the port / any engraving with some kapton tape.

Ordered a crs2 last month. Got a foundation stock sitting on the bench waiting for it. Was told last week they are waiting on 90* competition bolts to get back from heat treating / nitride, Anxious to compare it to the Borden mountaineer. That I’ve been running.
