Jackie what is your base to point overall length I have bought a 4 die set of Ulrich
30 from Michael Turner that is why I ask I have made 6s a long time the 30 are a different set up. Thanks for the help
Dave, I got tied up with The Tack Driver and never answered your post.

This is my “master bullet” that I try to duplicate every time. (pardon the double photo). The second is a new jacket, the third a core seated jacket, and then the diameters.
I think this bullet is around a 7 3/4 ogive.

Having some weight variation here with my core swaging process. I know I can’t get them all exact, but I would like to have greater consistency than what I am seeing.

Jim, how much weight are you squirting off? Depending on the die, sometimes squirting some more weight settles the variance down. My Blackmon dies have three squirt holes and they need at least 3 gr. of 'squirt' for consistency and 4 gr. doesn't hurt. A single squirt hole die might need more or less. More squirt is always better than less, at least in my experience.

How did you like the Marvel Mystery Oil?

I am squirting off almost 6 grains using a die with 3 holes.

I used the Marvel Mystery Oil stirred into acetone like was suggested in the BR Central thread that Lee Martin started. He suggested 6oz per gallon of acetone so that is what I went with. After the acetone flashed off, the unswaged cores were pretty oily, but I have no reference as to how lubricated they should be. I have no basis in reality here, but it seemed like too much lube.

I do. 7 or 8 drops per 1000 cut cores. Hand tumble for a couple minutes. I think I could get away with a little less but my variance is .05 so why change.
Ulrich die with 1 squirt hole, cut cores are 3 grains over target weight. A quick double pump on each core when squirting.
When I squirt cores, I also use a double pump. However, the only cores I make are 6MM, as I buy my 30 cores from Charlie Hood.
This is the size of the squirt out of the 6MM Niemi die. It weighs 3.3 grains.image.jpg

I have been getting a consistent swaged core within .06 grains with 4 grains pure lanolin per 500 cores tumbled for 15 minutes. Im around 3 grains over on a very consistent cut core. My die is 1 squirt hole made by Pindell. I do not double pump...one single and steady. I've tried both...I get more consistency with one steady, but quick. I am new at all this, but find that you almost have to find your own groove as to the process and technique that allows you to feel and see the details. This thread should be made into a book!
