Just doing like you told me, trying to fill up that die. Hopefully that is the first and last time. Steep learning curve. That'll get your attention. That's not what I meant by getting a "...good look at the core bleed by".

Pop!!
The good thing is, nothing gets hurt when that happens.Just doing like you told me, trying to fill up that die. Hopefully that is the first and last time. Steep learning curve.

Haha. Now you know the limit… and the max diameter your CS die can produce with the lube amount you chose.I was not happy about that, but this is the school of hard knocks over here Brian. I decided to start from square one with a FB core seating die to go through the process and that right there was handle pull #1.
Stand your ground, man!My pride doesn’t count?![]()

Dave, I got tied up with The Tack Driver and never answered your post.Jackie what is your base to point overall length I have bought a 4 die set of Ulrich
30 from Michael Turner that is why I ask I have made 6s a long time the 30 are a different set up. Thanks for the help

Jim, how much weight are you squirting off? Depending on the die, sometimes squirting some more weight settles the variance down. My Blackmon dies have three squirt holes and they need at least 3 gr. of 'squirt' for consistency and 4 gr. doesn't hurt. A single squirt hole die might need more or less. More squirt is always better than less, at least in my experience.Having some weight variation here with my core swaging process. I know I can’t get them all exact, but I would like to have greater consistency than what I am seeing.
I believe that's what Charlie Hood uses. How many folks who are squirting cores use Cool Tool?
I do. 7 or 8 drops per 1000 cut cores. Hand tumble for a couple minutes. I think I could get away with a little less but my variance is .05 so why change. How many folks who are squirting cores use Cool Tool?
When I squirt cores, I also use a double pump. However, the only cores I make are 6MM, as I buy my 30 cores from Charlie Hood.I do. 7 or 8 drops per 1000 cut cores. Hand tumble for a couple minutes. I think I could get away with a little less but my variance is .05 so why change.
Ulrich die with 1 squirt hole, cut cores are 3 grains over target weight. A quick double pump on each core when squirting.

Those emails are a wonderful thing.Core swage inconsistencies aside, I was happy yesterday when Capstone contacted me to tell me my jacket order was ready to ship!
