Tack Driver 6 LIVE RESULTS

I would like to give a shout out to all of the Sponsors who contribute to the Tack Driver and make all of the food and other amenities possible.
My business, R.C. Schmidt & Sons Inc have been a major contributor for all of the Tack Drivers except #1.

We have already paid in our sponsorship for Tack Driver VII.

While my Business has nothing to do with the Shooting Sports, the vast majority of Sponsors do, so support them as they support the Tack Driver.View attachment 1708556View attachment 1708563
RJ Schmidt & Son. “Giving the people the shaft since 1964”
That is classic! What a great tag line!

Got back to Texas yesterday, drove 820 miles Monday in the bus, to get to Lafayette about an hour and a half after dark, later than I wanted to. Pileup in Baton Rouge had me stopped there for most of that time, but to be honest, I neglected to consider the time change and subsequent earlier sunset. Leaving Laffy early yesterday, made the last day a breeze, four hours and home, well back to the office. Still have to clean out the bus.

The match was great though, I wish I had shot better and not made a couple silly mistakes, I did better this year than last. The new scope was very nice, didn't have the glare and mirage issues of last years NF. Shot a Dasher this year, will likely be making a change for next year. Staying with the 6mm family though, but not going PPC, at least not yet. I am bit concerned about keeping it in tune for two days of really varied stuff.

Thanks to Cline family - fabulous match, well run, great food, super organized. A lot of smaller matches, are not run nearly as well. Already looking forward to next year!

As of 2:15 pm, wednesday, we are within 30 miles of home. Couple of 480 mile days and a bit over 340 today. Match as usual was great. Jim Cline and his family are in a class all by themselves putting on this match.
We used to have a range officer here in Texas that I considered to be the best at calling a absolutely consistent match. Ken has him beat.

All these Texas Shooters talking about their long drive home.

Not me.

I hid in the bathroom till everyone left and I am starting to practice for next year.
I plan to set up camp at Mid-Carolina Gun Club and learn that range. Hell, I moved from Maryland to within 40 minutes of Orangeburg just to get prepared for the coming years! I guess I’ll see you again this week Wes! Maybe we can rent a bench and set flags permanently!

Congratulations to Benjamin! Great shooting!!! Thanks again for trying to straighten me out as you came by me cleaning my rifle!
Also congrats to Speedy and Dick for the individual honors!
Thank you Jim for the venue, great time. What a great bunch of people to rub elbows with. I now have faces to put with quite a names on here.

Oh the misery that is the Tack Driver.
It wouldn't be as fun, if it was easy.
I'm so glad to see Ben win, came in second last year, super nice guy.
I'm glad to see a 6 ppc win it.
I'm glad to see a UBR guy win it.

Also, I'm grateful to Jim Cline for stripping the BS away and not requiring a membership card to an organization, that costs upwards to a hundred bucks, that no-one wants to join anyway. You show up and pay a modest fee for a two day shoot, $100 and go have the best time with great people in absolutely miserable conditions, lol. My last registered ----- match costs me $285 for a two day shoot and that isn't with camping, and the winner got a piece of wood. Shooters just want to show up and shoot and have fun, and that is exactly what the TD is, and Jim has created the premier benchrest match as far as I"m concerned.

Some of those faces will keep you up at night.

I foresee something that is evolving......The Thursday morning fun match.
I think Jim threatened to use rim fire targets next year......Best 50 bucks
I ever lost.....LOL

How did the addition of spotting scopes this year go over, plus or minus?
Didn’t see very many, but I did witness one being knocked off the bench to the concrete. That was hard to watch.

I believe with the quick exchange of shooters on the benches made it hard to justify the use.

I could see bullet holes all weekend, mostly because I spread my bullets out on the paper!
