Tack Driver 6 LIVE RESULTS

Thanks everyone for all the kind and generous comments. I still can't hardly believe what happened, and was hoping at best to be in the top ten. The honest truth is any success I've had is owed to many many folks that have shared a lot with me. At the end of the day the friendships made are a prize of this sport and one I want to give thanks for. You guys have celebrated with me and I want to do the same when it's your turn. This event is one that I look forward to each year and Mr. Cline and crew really know how to run a remarkable and one of a kind event. Many thanks to you all! -Benjamin Brubaker

Congratulations Ben, incredible performance!

Ok in just a few more days this thread will be watched by many people from all over the country. Who will be watching and where will you be watching from? WHO are you predicting to win the “fun” match on Thursday? Who are you picking to win Tack Driver 6? What cartridge will win? Currently we have 3 of the previous events won with a PPC and the other 2 were won with a BRA. Get those predictions in. THIS IS ALSO WHERE THE TACK DRIVER 7 REGISTRATION FORM WILL BE RELEASED ON 11-1-2025! I will take the first 140 applications received.
Jim
Sorry technically challenged here...cant find the registration form for next year. Please advise where to find and how many spots are still available.
thanks

Congratulations Benjamin! I shared a bench with Ben at td 4 and 5 and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy! Congratulations to Speedy and the "Hammer" also.

I had a great time again, thanks Jim and all who help him pull this off! There's no experience that I've had in the shooting games that quite reaches the level of fun I have had at these tackdriver matches.

I have never shot so poorly in my life! Oh, I've had some pretty embarrassing days at the silhouette ranges, but nothing like this! The only time I had shots land where I expected was in practice or on the sighter. My equipment list reads like one from 1979, and that is indeed the year I first built the rifle. It was a PPC then. It was a 308 for this match.
Action- Wichita Mini
Stock- Lee Six
Trigger- Canjar LP
Cartridge- 308 Winchester, 334 neck, Rebated rim (to fit the PPC bolt face.)
Scope- Sightron 36X (this was new. I had an old 24X Leupold in the truck. It would not have hurt me to use it!
The barrel is new as well. It is a 14 twist from Hugh Williamson. It is an excellent barrel, and I have to apologize to Hugh for not showing what it can do.
Brass is Lapua
Bullets were out of the box Sierra 150's
CCI primers
41.5 of 3031
My rest is a 1975 RW Hart base with a Wichita top. Rear bag is a "Champion" (as if), which I bought off the bargain table at a local sporting goods store.
So, what went wrong? Well, at this point, I have to accept that I know absolutely nothing about rifles, accuracy, or shooting. I will be hesitant to offer an opinion on shooting or rifle building until my wounds heal!
Why would I enter a match like this with a rifle and equipment like this? Well, I've shot sub 1/4 aggs with this kind of stuff often, albeit 45 years ago! I have to accept that the piece that failed was like the guy sitting on the stool.
I've signed up for next year. I will again bring a vintage 308 (probably not the Wichita, but something from the same period).
I have to say, Jim Cline, along with his helpers, make this match. An excellent format, an excellent venue, and food which is just too good! Pitiful performance aside, I loved it. The evenings spent sitting around Dave Tooley's fire barrel made up for my shooting. WH
Orangeburg will certainly do that to you

I wonder how many 1.25 PPC will show up next year?

Big congratulations to Ben for winning Tack Driver VI!

It’s a remarkable accomplishment and something to be extremely proud of. Your name will forever be associated as a “Tack Driver Champion!”—and that’s one hell of a title!

Congratulations to Speedy for winning the group aggregate with what I believe is the smallest agg so far. Also, great job getting Eric Cortina to the Tack Driver. I gave him a hard time, so I expect him to be fired up next year!

Congratulations to Dick Powers, “The Hammer,” for his score aggregate win. Very well deserved for a very fine gentleman!

Also, a shout-out to the “Queen of the Memphis Mafia,” Andrea Ebbitt, for her 3rd-place group finish. She’s a 600-yard shooter, and this was her first Tack Driver. All but two of us got our asses beat by a girl!

Edit! I Forgot about my good friend Randy Holland’s incredible .329 group! Congratulations Randy!

I can’t say enough good things about Jim Cline and his crew who put on this match. It’s one of a kind—there’s nothing else like it—and you can’t find better competition or have more fun anywhere!

I personally want to apologize for my severe case of CRS (Can’t Remember $hit). I’m good with faces but can’t remember names to save my a$$. I’m a little embarrassed and ashamed of myself for it. Really, I wish I could have visited with every shooter there and have perfect recall. Next year, if Jim will hand them out, I’m getting everyone name tags!

As they said in the series Northern Exposure: Wishing everyone “Bon Hiver” (or “Good Winter”)!

God bless.

I hear ya on the CRS. I have the same issue. I always say I'm going to work on improving it but I forget to do it. I'm hoping it will improve with maturity. Good idea on the name tags. I'll chip in. WH

Thank you Jim Cline and his entourage for hosting the most fun yet challenging match!!! The food was awesome and the fellowship great!!! Looking forward to next year.

Congratulations Ben on a fine two days of shooting against the best of the best!!!

Congratulations to Speedy on some great group shooting!!!

Congratulations to Dick “THE HAMMER” Powers on some great score shooting!!!

Also congratulations to Randy Holland for shooting that .329 group, and I was privileged to watch each bullet go into that tiny group.

Regards,
Mitch Morris

To back up what many have said, for me personally this is the most fun match I have ever been to. Doesnt matter if I shoot or dont shoot. The food is excellent and they feed you often, really you only need to worry about breakfast if you want it. The variety of people you get to meet and talk to is over the top. The fun atmosphere is like no other match I have been to. Guys want to win but no one is too serious. Theres plenty of good jokes and other follies I wont post here. Zero drama. Some think 300M is not that hard. I get that but your trying to shoot dots. Its HARD. But all disciplines can be competitive. Look at Mark N. on the results. He never looked at a flag and was in the 20s overall and beat a lot of really good shooters. So dont think its a short range game. Its far enough to challenge everyone.
