6mm BR and H4350???

Anyone try H4350 and 108 Bergers?

Reason I ask is I have 24 LBs of H4350 (for my Creedmoors) and Varget is $65.00 a pound.

Looking at the burn rate charts the Varget is a faster burning powder (#124 vs #140).

I don't mind a slower FPS I can do my ladder testing again to find the best charge.

You can't get enough into case.

Why would you want to shoot a 6BR at 2725 ( and have the hassle of a drop tube)when you can easily get 2850+ with comparable(and more likely better) accuracy with a faster burn rate powder?

The 2750-60 node is crazy accurate (no drop tube required) shoots nice, easy to watch trace off a set of bags etc.

The man said he has 24# of H4350 and Varget is $65 per pound. I'm taking that to mean he has no Varget and wants to shoot the powder he has which in my experience is a very capable powder.

31.0 was 2760 in a slow lot
29.0 was 2840 in a fast lot
Both with 103s

No drop tube necessary

However, this is my loading funnel with drop tube and I love it.

I agree. I've had a Forster funnel with its 5.25-inch tube for many years and wouldn't use anything else.

Here are two sized Lapua cases with the same charge of Viht N550. The left was a straight dump from the scale-pan using a conventional funnel. The right, a slow angled pour through the Forster.

[Edit: I omitted the cases are 223 Rem]

#1 speed doesn't mean everything to me. Stays really consistent for a long time there.
#2 I sure like running 2 different powders for everything I shoot. H4350 for 22 bra, 6 bra, 25x47, 7 prcw. H4831sc for my hunting rifles.

So using H4350 is a compressed load for 6BR Norma??

I'm going to say normally no if you keep it under 2850 but it's going to depend on your lot of powder.
I was running 31 g with one lot to go 2760 and 29g to go 2840 with a different lot. Neither were compressed.
If you're going to try and break into the 2900s it's possible it could be compressed depending on the lot.

I'd start @ 28g and start working up and see what your barrel & lot want to do and see where you start crunching powder.

There was 3 of us I know of running it in 6 BR PRS type guns last summer. I don't remember their numbers but I know none of us were crunching powder. All guns were competitive.

Give it a try, I don't think you'll regret it.

Thanks for the info.

I just finished loading 29.0 and +.2 grs up to 30.4.

Going to the range to test tomorrow.

I am not that concerned about FPS just want to find the nodes.

Right now I'm running 2850 ish with Varget.

My only concerns will be at the 1000 yd range with Shotmarker targets.

I need to be at 1200 FPS at the target so the microphones will pick up the sonic boom of the bullet.

I don't expect any issues with over pressure but will be on the lookout for it.

Hope it works out, Varget is now $64.00 a pound and I have 24 LB's of H4350 under my bench.

Keep you posted.

Thanks again.
