"0" Group at 1000 yards

I don't want to turn this into a electronic target pissing match BUT that's a lot of money to just count shots, what's next ??
After a club spent 10-15K on electronic targets next step would be to use them in a sanctioned match, I wouldn't want to see someone shooting a potential world record playing a video game.
Olympics are shot on e targets.

And, the suggestion was to use the e target only to count the shots.

I was in on a conversation at the Fire dept, an older Marine retired was telling everyone that in a pistol match he had an excellent group going. The shooter next him was someone he could not stand and his sergeant had been jacking him up about winning. So his last shot was in the shooter next doors target. He screwed over the jerk next to him and got the sarge off his back, and was the hero of the day.

When we built our 1,000 yd range it would have cost us in the neighborhood of $200,000 to build pits, pit wall, buy target carriers etc. We bought 8 shotmarkers for $7,000. Of course we still had to build target frames using 1 X 2 aluminum tubing. But going to Shotmarkers were by far the least expensive solution to pits. I know y'all are talking about mostly benchrest shooting in this thread but we have sling as well as F-class and across the course matches. I guess my point is, a few Shotmarkers aren't that expensive. A lot of shooters have their own.

^^^^^ Even back when I was younger, my neck was so messed up I could never bend it enough to see through the scope for more than a minute or two. Spotting scopes have that angled eye piece, I was hoping someone would come out with a rifle scope with that same eye piece so I could shoot prone. For a long time I was so upset I couldn't shoot I would not call it F class, I called it F Troop and asked how that could let Sargent Agarn outshoot them.

I know a couple guys who quit when their record-setting targets were DQed. When I score, shooter always gets the benefit of the doubt. This is a gentlemanly sport. There’s no massive prize pot or money on the line beyond the entry fees, and arguably even if there was - this is a game we’re playing together and we should act with honesty and integrity and accept that others are doing the same.

A gentlemanly sport indeed sir!

E targets are the future of the sport. Young people like using and playing on their phones and tablets. Need to figure out how to get the PRS crowd to participate in long range shooting.
Sorry but this is where I wish there was a dislike button.

I’m afraid young people need instant gratification these days. E targets give you that, they don’t however give the accuracy and reliability to measure five shots to the thousandth of an inch.

Just call me Shotmarker Dave.

Just for everyone’s info.
A lot of Short Range Clubs that used to shoot Group Matches now shoot Varmint for Score, UBR, and HBR exclusively because of the constant hassle with the moving backer system.

I wonder if having 2 to 3 inches between target and backer would be enough to determine the number of shots fired ?

Getting ready for our NBRSA Sscore Nationals, I shot this 100 yard 5 shot group with my 30BR.
Do E Targets have the resolution to accurately record and measure this.

I wish we had an electronic shot counting system for Short Range that cost about $250 per frame on a 20 Bench Range. I personally buy them for Tomball and we could shoot Short Range Registered Group Matches again.
