5 minutes of FAFO time yesterday for a coming project...
Straight dyes
Red ground color sanded red back and applied blue, this gives the soft grain a violet cast
Wiped off excess dye with damp ragnext i blended blue back in from edges working towards center
I'll be clearing this

40 or 50 year old walnut. Some years ago, I bought a handful of blanks out of what was Winslow Arms before they closed the doors. A friend and I split them.

I've heard thier stocks are rough but that looks nice to me.

Over the last five years I have purchased two in the BR style, one upper grade walnut and one laminate. Installed pillars and bedded them with no isssues. A bit of personal fitment on the grip, butt, etc to suit my shooting setup with a few trips to the range, then numerous coats of Arrow. They always get compliments. I read the numerous complaints but did not experience any such.....

I have been inspired…….not sure how it will look when done but myself and my dad decided to build a couple short range benchrest rifles for U.B.R. And figured we’d give stock building a try. I had some old (from 40’s) walnut and some cherry so decided to give it a shot…..just getting started but enjoying it so far.
Thank you to this community what you create and the knowledge you freely share with us is truly amazing and provides me with the confidence I might actually be able to make this work.

I am getting ready to do an American Flag scheme as soon as the carbon cures.

Contact your local automotive paint jobber,have your color samples "flag" with you and go through the solid color books.
You will find the colors you need easily doing this versus looking for a paint code.
I've used a picture on my phone sent to me to match color before.
