Details on AR Tactical in NRA High Power (Midrange)

Got two (.243 win & 6.5 CM)….. no luck yet, too much vertical at best load so far.

A couple years back I did shoot a 2388 with an 18” Wilson Arms .233 and some Nosler 77 Blems (sorted of course) from American Reloading @ 0.12/bullet.

I think I may go back to working on my 6x45 ar15 upper….. or maybe a 22” .233 with 75 grain eldm’s.
On paper an AR10 seems like the easy answer. In reality my experience with them so far is that they are much more fickle than the AR15. I'm just starting to finally get my 6.5 creed match rifle dialed in.

I shot SMK80s in a Krieger 7.7 twist. Shot a lot of cleans and won Indiana state. I looked at other AR15 cartridges and the ballistic improvements just weren’t good enough to build a new gun, invest in does brass etc.

If I got an AR10 I’d get a seekins or Daniel defense and make a 6GT barrel for it.

I like the 6GT idea…. But agree with you on dies and brass (hence the reason I decided to give a 6x45 a try, I’m up to eyeballs in 5.56 LC brass).

I did notice the new 138 grain Hornady A-Tip in .25 cal. Got me to thinking about a 25-45 Sharps with about a 1/7 twist…. Stop uses the 5.56 brass also. I think the g1 is near .700 on this bullet

We are shooting both Mid and Long range matches. CMP shoots AR Tactical at 1000 yards at Camp Perry Long Range Nationals. To date our 80 SMK loaded pretty hot, has worked well there (no cleans….but mid to low 190’s at 1000, it’s not the bullets fault, wind calls could be better ).
