20 ppc AI

What’s been the best powder for the 55gr / 20 ppc ai case?
I've not shot the 55 for accuracy because I dont have the twist, but I would be looking along the lines of AA2520 which works extremely well in mine with 39 bullets. RL15, RL15.5 and a Viht powder at that burn rate is were I would be looking.
The problem i had with 15 in my 20PPCAI with 39's is getting enough in the case to out perform AA2520 in speed and accuracy may be different with the 55's though because i used it to signs of pressure.
Anything slower than 15.5 is gonna be a full case and then some

Be sure to share a few pictures and details of that project.

Thanks
Hal
Not wanting to derail this thread on the 20ppcai too much but I'm curious about the barrel and twist of your 17ppcai. Would love to see pics and details too.My 17 ppc is a Lilja 27" 7 twist and I was successful up to 3900fps with the Berger 37.

Reamers done- waiting on the April go gauge…

Gotta find/ need - a 1-9” barrel now..
I have an add in classifieds… I could have dropped into bugholes yesterday to get a 1-8”…. Thought I’d try to find a 1-9” first…

Will the 20 PPC AI barrel outlast a .20 practical barrel? (In a bolt gun)
What ya think?
I dont think so but close, its like other things though its gonna depends on how you take care of it.
In my opinion they both have there place, its like I stated before the 20PPCAI is a great compromise to shooting 32-55 grain bullets and barrel life.

What does it look like next to a standard 20ppc
From what im reading the 20ppc hold 33.5 gn of water doesnt look like any capacity was gained, but is the case visually different then the standard 20ppc or does it take calipers to tell the difference? In slight case variations?
If you drop 20ppc cases, and 20ppc AI cases in the same bowl could you tell the apart by looking at them like 223 rem and 223rem AI. I didnt pick up alot of velocity or case capacity between the 223 and 223AI. The difference was in brass life and accuracy was outstanding far superior to standard 223rem it was a very interesting lesson in AI cases
Thank you.

Less taper
Hair shoulder height taller
40* shoulder

Less case trimming
1.5gr more capacity

Just like all my other AI cases..

Here's the difference in a 20PPC vrs 20PPCA. Regular 20PPC on the right.
I stay with the regular 20PPC because I already have the reamer/gauge, and a full set of reloading dies. Otherwise I'd go with the 40* version. Nowdays it wouldn't be a lot fun starting to look for a set of dies or having a set built! Just my $.02 worth.

Its my reamer. Did one for Glenn for the gopher gun. Hes just starting to tune it. Shot some small ones with the 32s at close to 4400. Any of them are accurate enough for gophers. I said Id pick the one that blows them up the best. With Dillon wind its hard to hit them past 300 anyhow, so more interested in speed than bc since most shots are 100 to 200yds in the pivots we shoot.

Do you get back out to this country to shoot gophers? I saw my first gopher Nov. 26th last year. That definitely is not gonna happen this year. We have BIG snow this year.
