So Cal Fires!!!

The foothills above Altadena have burned a few times since then. The real fuel was in the neighborhoods; older wood framed and in many cases wood sided houses, surrounded by 100+ years worth of large mature trees, Palms, and foliage in almost every yard. Watch the IG clip I posted above for the conditions that devastated the town. Unless the slopes were completely bare of vegetation, the arcing of the SCE transmission line would still have caused this. Just my humble opinion as a 30 year resident in Altadena with a couple years as a Firefighter / EMT / Engineer in Sonoma County.
I have a client that has a lightweight concrete business and lives right in the heart of the major burn area in Altadena. He brought one of his water trucks in and kept his house intact along with his neighbors on both sides while the entire block burnt to the ground. Now the National Guard is on site trying to protect what is left from the looters. IMO this is not a red or blue issue but more an example of an entitled society where folks just expect things to get done for them without any effort on their part. My client had a few more water trucks at his yard but not ONE homeowner came to help him nor ask for his help.

Smart guy! I am not sure if it could be done but areas like Altadena and the Palisades could use more of that kind of thinking. Perhaps during fire season CalFire could preposition Baker tanks in the Wildland Urban Interface or Very High Fire Severity Zones. Each Baker tanks holds something like 20,000 gallons and could make a difference in the early stages of a fire.
My son ran his ass off Wednesday putting spot fires in contiguous neighbor's yards as well as ours. He was successful until a place two doors away went up which lit up the neighbor to the west which almost took our home. Many of the Altadena residential streets do not have urban type hydrants but use 4" dia. standpipes fed from local reservoirs. My point is more water early on may have saved a few more house.

Caught a statement on the news that Newsome has or is calling the fires a natural disaster. Even though investigations continue to try and determine the cause. Investigators have stated lighting was likely not the cause.

I expect how it’s called would determine a lot about who pays and how much. Not to mention federal subsidies.

This is exactly what happened in my Tick fire. I covered 4 houses putting out spot fires before they got too big. Numerous flaming pieces of flaming debris landing randomly but if they land in something combustible it is bad news. Your son did a fantastic job !

Liberals and Democrats always blame something else.

Caruso did the same thing brought in private fire fighters to save him mall.

This is a heart breaking catastrophe of epic proportions which will take decades and billions of dollars to rebuild, and unfortunately many will never recover. At the same time it makes your blood boil! While this was forecasted for many years, incompetent progressives continued to be elected at the local and state level. The degree of faulty policies and financial allocation is staggering. Yet today the state congress will have a special session to Trump-proof the state, which demonstrates a special kind of stupid. Hopefully the voters will wise up and elect someone with sanity.
The state will vote to Trump proof???? Does that mean NO Federal $$$$ to help cover all the loss by the People thru government STUPIDITY???

HMMM.... Sign posted on burned out street "LOOTERS WILL BE SHOT" Hmm... not sure how that can happen since most folks in LA are anti gun...... Now it might just be convenient to own a firearm..... What do you think nusome.......

National Guard is still pro 2A and carrying M4's :)

Ironically i got a letter from Oregon Department of Forestry just now.
In bold letters it states...
"Your property has been identified as being within both a high hazard zone and the wildland-urban interface."
Next line...
"This designation will not impact your homeowners insurance rates or ability to obtain coverage. "

Uh huh, sure!
Yeah, They just told you a bold faced lie. My folks just had their insurance policy cancelled in July because they were told they were in a fire zone. The insurance company flew a drone over their house and gave them a list of reasons why they were being canceled, But there was nothing they could do to stop the cancellation.
I shopped around and found the only company that would insure them, But the price was 2 and a half times more money, Nothing we could do except pay it and they also made them replace the roof even though there was nothing wrong with their roof.
There is a lot of weird stuff going on and I feel like something big and bad is on the horizon, Other people I know have been feeling the same way. Somethings off.
