Powder Suggestions for 6mmBR and 105s?

I shot a pressure ladder a while back with 4064, I wasn’t super impressed but I also only shot one round per increment.
Try something in the 29.5 - 30.2 gr. range with a 105 class bullet. My best results came from 30.1 gr., I went with 30.0 to keep it simple.

I am new to BR shooting and as my rifle is being built Im looking at different powder possibilities to push my Bart's Hammer 105 grn bullets out to 600 yards. Rifle is a 6MM BR Norma with 1:8 twist and a 28 inch barrel.

I live in northern Minnesota and would be competing most likely in the upper midwest. Gives a little info on temp requirements. I am also trying to obtain about 2900 fps.

Also new to the forum. Hope I posted this in the right place.

Thanks, Brew2
Varget!

I'm shooting my 6BR using 30.2 grains of Varget behind Berger 105 grain hybrids through a 30" 7 twist barrel getting an average 2982 fps, with a sdev of 6.6. Varget has gotten a bit spendy, so I have a jug of N140 in the wings. This load has been working great for me at 600 yards. Good luck. You've gotten lots of good options.

I appreciate that information.
I’m still scratching my head on why Sierra’s load data is so low on the charges for the 6BR.

It's a starting point. Just work up. But the well known 30gr varget load shoots great in so many 6br barrels of mine.

I can tell you I haven't shot out any 6br brass. When they get to that 25-35 firings I tumble them then they sit in the box. Primer pockets are still ok.

A lot of times I take my 10-15 firing lapua 6br brass and convert them to 22BR then shoot them in my 22BR and they are still going good there to...

This is the reason 6BR is one of my favorite cartridges....

First things first. Ater you get a good load, key word after, check the velocity because many will be more interested in this than the results on target. Don't drop to that level.
Jeff,
Have u noticed that no matter which barrel u have on ur rifle, the same basic load shoots in all ur barrels? In my BRX, if 33.0-33.5 gr of Varget/VV140 and a 105/107 gr bullet doesn’t shoot, the barrel gets pulled as there is something wrong with that barrel. I am not willing to spend the time n components figuring out what the odd barrel likes.
The velocity at the target ( using Shotmarker) always falls in the same range as well. One bbl may be 50 fps or so different but that is just the nature of different barrels and their round counts.
I shoot prone with a sling so perhaps in F-Class I would see something different.

I have my own reamers and all my barrels but one were done but the same 2 smiths most of them by the same one. In my many 6 ppc and 6brx barrels the loads only varied by a tenth or two in powder and a few tenths in seating. I never retuned except a bump or two with a tuner. I never cared about velocity except to have an honest figure for the inevitable question....how fast. Lol. BRX with 107SMK 2975 to 2990. 6PPC with 68 gr plus or minus a tad at 3400. Its the Indian not the arrow with my normal budget. Bob Green crafted me accurate rifles, the rest is up to me.

Jeff,
I believe we are on the same page!
