Tack Driver 6

Joe, it’s really pretty easy.

Just find a combination shooting a bullet at 2900 fps with around a 700 ballistic coefficient that will agg at .200 or better.

Jackie, Straight .284 with a 180 grain Berger hybrid comes pretty close. But the 180 7mm’s like to live closer to 2800 than 2900. I have available a reamer for that. .200 might be on the edge though.
See how simple it can be ;)

Or you might remember the big 7 that i shot at the walker county shatterblast.

I’m really trying to forget TD5, but god it was so much fun.
It’s the kind of fun like when a tattoo is over and your sad it’s over, kind of fun.
I brought down two good shooters for their first time, and both were throughly humbled.
So what am I bringing next year, I don’t know.
So how do you prepare, I don’t know.
So how do I get better at TD, I really don’t know.
What I do know is I’ll have another headache thanks to Roy at TD6.
That’s really all I know.

I have three or four rifles which have the potential to be selected for the trip. More than the rifle, I need some serious tune-up work. I have not made a serious appearance at a BR match since 1982. Can you imagine how far out of step I am? I don't even have any bags. My front rest is a McCracken, ca. 1974. My reloading equipment was the cheapest money could buy, and still is. The barrel on my 300m rifle was made in 1976. Too poor to buy a bolt, I had to make do with an old home made one. I think it will be a real good time. WH

An old friend of mine that passed on several years ago once told me
something I will never forget....."Beware the man that shows up with
a rusty pipe, duct taped to a 2x4, laid on a bed roll, and that's all he owns".

Tack Driver 6 is officially full at 140 registered shooters and currently 5 people on the waiting list. Thank you everyone for the support and trust in me to provide you with a match to remember. The Tack Driver will be tge match of the year again in 2025! See you all there!

If you wish to be added to the waiting list, please PM me or call me. Thanks, JC

I have always enjoyed building rifles. Getting ready for TD6 gives me ample opportunity to build away! Now, I already have a couple of pretty viable possibilities and one of them may actually be the final choice. Still, no reason not to explore other options! The big thing is to get in enough trigger time to be capable of reading flags and shooting to the .2 level or better. Then there is the score shooting challenge. There is a real difference. For myself, this means actually going to BR and F class matches again and trying to re-awaken atrophied skills. So it is that I will be attending the match as a 76 year old rookie. We'll see what the rifle will be. WH

Dug around in one of the Kennedy's to find all my forming dies. Going
to wild cat one of my own .284 wild cats.......I know two shooters that will
be shooting a 7mm so far. Been itchin' to see how this Peterson brass
holds up. Time to put the Rock Chucker back on the bench and get at it.

Still getting several calls a week about Tack Driver 6. This event is FULL at 140 shooters and 10 or so on the waiting list. No deposit is required to be added to the waiting list if anyone is interested. Usually we have 10-15 people that have other events come up and they have to cancel, don’t wait if you want to be added to the list. Please PM me or call me. It is looking like Tack Driver 6 will be one of the highest attended Benchrest matches in 2025 if not the highest! Thanks, JC

It says a lot about the quality of your event to have it fill up so early.
Thank you for the kind words. All I try to do is give everyone an opportunity to come to an unsanctioned event where all the different disciplines can compete at a high level. Most of all it’s the good times and laughs had by everyone that makes this “family reunion” the match of the year!
