Ammunition Testing at Widden Gunworks

I spent Friday at Whidden Gunworks testing on the 50 and the 100 meter range. There is no other way to put it into words but to say that it was the most fun I have had shooting "EVER".. END OF STORY. When they say that they want you to be a part of the testing it is not just words. The session began with of course safety and set-up. Every step of the process is explained prior to any movement. Once the rifle was mounted onto the fixture and sighted in, the shooting began. I was not paying attention to round count but It is a tremendous amount of rounds fired during the phases of testing. Each phase of testing is explained and you are watching the results of the hits on the screen. Upon completion of the testing on the 50 meter range we broke for lunch.
Upon retuning from lunch they already had my rifle mounted into the fixture on the 100 meter side. My wife came with me for the afternoon session. They have a separate room with rocking chairs so that visitors can observe shooting. They also provide coffee and drinks. The afternoon testing was just as intense as the morning session on the 50meter side. Upon completion we discussed all phases of testing and results and came to a collective agreement on which ammo my rifle shot the best. You can purchase as much of that ammo that they have. In my case my rifle shot Lapua Center X the best. This was due in part to my particular shooting which is done at 100yrds. Eley also performed very well at 50 meters. I was taken up front and the ladies in the shop were glad to take my money. We then had another meeting and my results for all phases were emailed to me. I left there with empty pockets and a smile on my face.

I would suggest highly to going there and be a part of the testing process. You can send your rifle in for testing but I do not suggest that unless you do not have the option to travel. The town of Nashville is very nice with plenty of restaurants and a cozy hotel located in the center. The folks at Whidden Gunworks are top notch and very approachable. They go out of their way to make you feel welcomed.

Thanks to all the folks at Whidden Gunworks for one of the best shooting experiences that I have ever had.
