Good old original PAM cooking spray works great!! Apply it like a rattle can of paint and a lot cheaper than waxes and shoe polish. And it clean up easily.

I tried Pam 20 years ago, Big mistake. Use Mclube release or Brownells spray release. I know the discontinued Johnsons paste wax works great, And honestly even at $50.00 a tub it's way cheaper than McLube or Brownells.

The secret to using PAM is to use it like you are cooking. Set the barreled action in the hot sun and then apply the spray. It will penetrate into the pores just like it does in the frying pan. But, you have to bring the action back down to nominal temps before bedding!!!!!

Like all bedding jobs, yeah sweat bullets hoping the action releases from the stock. I have used it on two brand new (at the time of bedding) Remington 700 Varmint/Target rifles. Both jobs were marine grade epoxy with very fine laboratory grade iron filings added for fillers/binders! Plus, the iron acts as a heat sink since iron has a high thermal conductivity property.

From the study of THERMODYNAMICS:
Good absorbers of heat are good emitters!! HEAT SINK
Poor absorbers of heat are poor emitters!! INSULATION (R factors)
