30BR 700 BDL build

After getting my 6br BDL rifle built and completed I feel the need to scratch another itch. My plan is to make another BDL hunting rifle in 30br. I have ordered a shilen 15 twist #5 contour. Going to be using a Remington 700 action and Remington wood BDL stock that I plan to refinish. I'm thinking 22" barrel and threaded on the end for my suppressor. This should be a fun project. Any insight on a 30br hunting rifle that you have would be greatly appreciated. Pictures is my 6br rifle

My Smith has a 30brs reamer. Makes it about 80 thou longer then the original 30br

Are you talking .080 more  neck length or is the  shoulder blown forward .080? -Al

They way I understand it, it blows the shoulder out .080 I guess you could think of it as a 30br improved. Allows for gr or so more powder

Sweet what bullets do you plan on running

They way I understand it, it blows the shoulder out .080 I guess you could think of it as a 30br improved. Allows for gr or so more powder

An 'improved' would have the shoulder angle changed from the standard 30 degree. A standard 30BR blown forward .100 is the 30BRX...which I've used before.

The devil is in the reamer details on a 30BR so make sure you know what you're getting before it gets chambered. And what the 'smith does for dies if it's non standard.

I'd add that the free bore length should be appropriate for the length of any of the hunting style bullets you'll be using. -Al

That's what I plan on having my Smith do I don't plan on shooting anything over 135gr bullets

I will keep it updated. Barrel should be here tomorrow or early next week. Going to be using alpha brass and a Harrell's die

My 30BR Hunter is a Rem Model 7 custom build from ODCR (WSMNUT) here on the site. This is the same reamer as my B R 700 was done with by ODCR. Only changes made was I moved to the 1 - 15 Tw. Barrel due to using the 125 gr. class bullets. I am very content with the build as it shoots the 125 gr. class bullets @ 5-shot gps. into 1/4 inch consistently. I settled on the Nosler 125 gr. Accu Bond and Ballistic Tip as this was my plan. I would not change anything about the build if doing it again.

It is the the most kill for the money I have ever had. 3000 FPS with 125 gr. A B will get it done. Shot was @ 75 yds. and traveled from the frontal chest (head on shot) to lodging between the hams. I don't think I could ask for any better performance from the rifle or the bullet.

I built a hunting 30BR on a REM 700 for my best friend using an old 1-17 take off barrel.
He shoots the 110 Barnes Triple Shock at 3000 fps. At about 100 yards he dropped a nice buck dead in it’s tracks.
That bullet he recovered mushroomed with petals out as big as a dime.

When my boys were young I downloaded a 125 Balistic Tip in a 308 to about 2750 and it flat out put a hurting on a few deer.
