My neighbor has one. My Savage shoots tighter at 1/3 the cost. The horse is thinking yup, the dumbass missed again.

That's not a mule, it's an ugly horse that's focused on the crew behind it. Why they chose such an ugly horse for an ad is beyond me, most ranchers and outfitters have at least some good looking horses. The crew should have tossed something down the hill to get it ear forward for the snap.

Looks like maybe out the Zumwalt out Buckhorn lookout way overlooking the Imnaha. Similar look anyhow.

Other than a thick arched neck which may just be a roached mane coming back there's not enough of him there to judge but he's looking out front and listening out back as was intended.
I've rode worse looking horses and if he's standing still for all the nonsense ears cocked or not I've definitely rode worse mannered horses.

I've been doing image editing for over 30 years and graphics for over 50 years.
The horse may not be in the original image at all.
The very foreground grass as well as the midgroubd grass looks added post production to hide the blend of the scenes. The scenery of the mountains beyond the grass appears to be added post production.

Just my opinion but this ad seems out of touch with the hunting public to the extreme. This puke trash is what made me stop buying shooting magazines.

Anyone dumb enough to climb, ( not hike) up and down the canyons along the snake river bird hunting, knows the look on that critter's face.
The photo was taken before the horse turned around and kicked him down into the canyon for even thinking of climbing down there. Smart horse.
