I’ve had several of them. Over 1000 casea firefomed, all with 50 gr bullets on varmints. Fireforming was not “fireforming”, it was shooting at velocity faster than a std 22-250 and with the same accuracy of a formed case. A win-win…..fillers waste time and powder/primers, don’t group well, and aren’t effective on varmints. Not Artificial Intelligence either...for the younger generations!

I was gonna comment much a long the same lines, I’ve had two 22-250 AI Rifles. Great cartridge and I had great accuracy from my fireform loads. Just makes it easy. The other benefit I like from the 40 degree shoulder is the brass doesn't grow near as much, very little trimming needed for several firings.I’ve had several of them. When did Hornady start making these?75gr Hornady VMAX
Beeswax helps to create pressure to fireform the brass. So, I've never had to deal with fireforming, but I will be doing AI versions of my 22-250 and 6.5x55 in the near future. How does the beeswax come into play? Looks like the sheet of dental wax is pressed into the neck to seal the case..
Thank you.AP, that was a good video. You pointed out the better case life and I can see that.
I would like to know if you load both rounds for rifles set up the same way as far as leade, twist rate and barrel length, all things equal and loaded to the same pressures, how would the max velocities compare?
I have not seen the diff in case capacities between the CM and 22-250AI either.
Thanks
Why not instead of fire forming just sighs down some 22 cm alpha brass SPR and trim it to length it's been working great for me and my guys down hereHaha thanks Matt!
Yes, Lapua brass. I annealed them myself with the Annie Induction Annealer.
Regarding fireforming, my buddy convinced me a few years ago to use Bullseye powder, beeswax, and dental wax!
I will definitely do that! Thank you.Why not instead of fire forming just sighs down some 22 cm alpha brass SPR and trim it to length it's been working great for me and my guys down here
No hate, just a better alternative since you are saving a large rifle primer ( use large pistol primer), a healthy dose of slower burning powder (use 12gr. of Bullseye), and an expensive bullet (use beeswax/dental wax).I dont understand the " hate" on fireforming cases, done correctly it can be very accurate. Its no more work than any other virgin case.
Thats my point, load them up go shoot coyotes, sage rats etc whatever you want just like any other cartridge no need for beeswax. No hate, just a better alternative since you are saving a large rifle primer ( use large pistol primer), a healthy dose of slower burning powder (use 12gr. of Bullseye), and an expensive bullet (use beeswax/dental wax).
False shoulder, bullet, powder, done, I myself will never do fireforming with anything but false shoulder and standard load, the mess and time are just a headache anymore, I use to use CM, Cotton, 10 grs unique or bullseye.... but false shoulder and trigger time is mucho better if this makes any senseLarge pistol primer.
12gr. Bullseye powder.
Beeswax pellets from eBay, fill to the top of the case mouth.
Seal with dental wax.
Shoot in a safe direction. Ear pro necessary.

Post your results with the 7 twist and 75 Hornady. I had blow ups using my 7 twist with 75s. I had to jump to an 8 twist to entirely end the bullet blow ups. I now shoot the 75/80 ELDM bullets. They function flawlessly now. Hopefully you won't have the same issues. Not sure if it was the ratchet rifling or fast twist that causes the blow ups but guessing the 7 twist was too fast. Not Artificial Intelligence either...for the younger generations!
