Well I like the 22-250 and the 22-250 Ackley Improved a lot,
thanks for sharing the pics.Kinda nice that you didn't succumb to the 22 creed more. Bet it shoots well, not sure I'd fireform with those expensive bullets though. The brass looks nice,Lapua or did you anneal them like Lapua does. Your probably gonna fireform on chucks with the 75 vmaxs anyway, so I'm just playing along with this pointless thread ;)

Haha thanks Matt!

Yes, Lapua brass. I annealed them myself with the Annie Induction Annealer.

Regarding fireforming, my buddy convinced me a few years ago to use Bullseye powder, beeswax, and dental wax!

Hey, AP2020, talk about generations - that center projectile - a Hammer HTT I presume - appears to be a mutated, direct descendant of the HERTER'S Wasp-Waist family!o_O :p RG
Yes!
Wow I just dated myself. Lol. Herter's from Waseca, Minnesota.

As a kid in the 70's I used to dream of getting everything in their catalog!

Btw, are you the same fellow who makes custom bullets?

Yes, you are! I got some of your 40gr .204 bullets for my 204Ruger.

Thank you Sir!

Might give H1000 a try too with the 75 and up bullets. Mine do well with it for sure!! Also I’ve had excellent results on coyotes with the 51g hammer and varget. Around 4050fps and I can just hold fur to 350yds. No splashes on close shots and great penetration without massive damage to fur. I’ll always have a 22-250AI!

Will do! I just located some H1000, too.
I do have the 68gr HHT to test next.
Indeed 22-250AI rocks!

So, I've never had to deal with fireforming, but I will be doing AI versions of my 22-250 and 6.5x55 in the near future. How does the beeswax come into play? Looks like the sheet of dental wax is pressed into the neck to seal the case..

1st video!

I was thinking about the CM but I am open to 22-250 AI. I watched the video and understand the difference between the std and AI, I currently have a 25-06AI and other AI's in the past. I was not sure I wanted to mess with fireforming anymore but your method is pretty painless.
Anyway, what performance difference do you see comparing the 22-250 AI and 22CM and powder capacity difference.
For sure in rural areas like mine the 22-250 ammo will be more common for quite some time in case I needed to buy factory ammo, which I doubt.

Water capacity of two is within 1-2 grs; Creedmoor slightly more. However the difference from one case capacity to the other could be swung either way if throats vary much at all. Same can be said if one has an inch or two longer barrel.

Similar to say; does a 325 HP 327 have more or less power than a 383 Magnum 335HP Mopar? Sixes; you a GM or Mopar fan ?

Large pistol primer.
12gr. Bullseye powder.
Beeswax pellets from eBay, fill to the top of the case mouth.
Seal with dental wax.

Shoot in a safe direction. Ear pro necessary.

So again, I can go either way. Forget availability of ammo and such for now, why would the 22-250 be way better. Seriously, if it is then that's how I would go.
Thanks in advance.

If you re starting from scratch with both these cartridges, ( no dies, brass, etc) then I d say very, very similar performance. That said I d look at other tangible factors to make my decision such as; shell availability, brass availability, rifle choices and twist options since you may have preference for light or maybe heavy bullet options. My 2 cents. GLW decision !
