Aerospike 300 BLK 146 Lulu adventure begins

Bud, everyone here is pretty chill, and there are typically never any arguments. Half the active users here would give you the shirt off their back without ever speaking to you. Respectfully, I'd advise some time spent to reflect on how you're talking to people here who are trying to be helpful. You're really rubbing everyone the wrong way, and you're kind of being an asswipe about it every chance you get.

If you want to fight and be an elitist, seriously, move over to snipers hide. There's plenty of that there.

Chill? Search my posts and see the responses right from the go. My existence apparently is offensive. I will not put up with it anymore.

And no, I've had more than a few PM me with kind words and offers to help. It is not the whole forum, just the really loud assholes.

I swear it's like middle school in here.
I wouldn’t know.

Here’s the thing, based on what I have in hand, you got ahead of yourself. No big deal. It can be sorted out here, or not. This thread will not go away, even if it gets locked. It’s now part of your bullets history.

What you’re looking for is product reviews, when in actuality you are in the product testing stage. The product testing stage is brutal, that way when it gets to product review time, it’s glowing reports and sales jump.

Remember in one of your first threads, I asked for a private conversation and got ignored?

I also indicated I would be buying bullets and posting.

I can’t speak for the peanut gallery, but they are doing a pretty good job for themselves.

Your bullet, whether you want to admit it or not, will benefit from what has already been discussed here. Possibly to the point of saving the project from failure.

These were no where near being ready for review. Not when those who want to shoot them are tasked first with quality control to give them the best chance of working. Again a review is simply pulling the product out of the box, and judging performance.

Imagine my review.
Great service, fast shipping, loaded to the data provided and SAAMI length of 2.260 since none was provided. First shot took out my suppressor. Threw the rest away.

Stay with it, but you dig this hole. Oddly enough there are a few out here trying to help you out of it.

OK. I did.
I'm sorry that my "claimed" degrees hurt your delicate sensibilities. Maybe you should start a petition to get me kicked off the forum for discussing my research into external ballistics? OR maybe you should stop being an ignorant simpleton and kindly ignore my posts if they hurt your feelings?

It has been my life's work to develop aerospike bullet theory and I have reached a point where I need others to begin shooting them to find any issues that I have missed. If you want to be a part of this then feel free to join in. If not then kindly piss off.

That is not how research works in academia. Researchers show each other data all the time and I would never consider taking and presenting it without their approval. I know that y'all aren't academics (there may be a few hiding out there) but I don't see why I shouldn't treat y'all with the same respect.

In some ways I am superior. I will put my knowledge of the math behind external ballistics against anyone on here. In other ways I am inferior. I have never shot a target at 1000 yards. My longest practical shot was about 300 yards on my first elk.

Oh no. Don't go. How will I carry on without you. sniff.

I would rather my bullets never hit the market than listen to this any longer. If you or anyone else want to work with me to develop these bullets then fine but if you want to get your kicks in humiliatingly a "nerd" online then go pack sand.

Dave, you can go to hell for all I care about your opinion. I won't sell you bullets if you were the last shooter out there.

How very one-sided of you. Welcome to the clique.

I skipped over a few pages...Any shooting results that I may have missed as of yet?
Page 2 is a oval hole, page 5 is a round hole.
I may have misread something or my reading comprehension is lacking, but I believe @dellet had a baffle strike, or was stating the out of round projectile would cause a baffle strike.

I believe that it took out his suppressor..
Thank you for clarification

@HappyHellfire serious question that's puzzled me from the beginning...
If tipping and pointing bullets is a real thing for more uniform BC numbers equating to less vertical stringing, how come your design has a flat meplat??
I get the fact that they have to be parted from the bar stock, but wouldn't a carbide cutter kinda like a pencil sharpener aid in pointing your bullet effectively giving you a tighter BC tolerance and better down range performance?
OK that was 2 questions

Class, let’s review.

From the very first post I acknowledged this would likely be a contentious thread and I would be a participant in that.

I ask again please keep it civil and if you can’t take like you give, error to the polite side.

There is a very fine line between confidence and arrogance. I’m not sure I know where that line is. Looks like some others may not also.

I’m going to point out something that could of have been more perfectly displayed on this thread.

At post #93, there was a breakthrough, or so I thought. Here @HappyHellfire is confronted with something he had never considered before and had asked a question. I acknowledged this in a way to provoke thought. He started to show that although knowing all there is to know about bullet flight, he didn’t really know how to launch that flight properly. The term garbage in, garbage out applies here.

I ended answering that question with a folktale.
In post #118 I’m called out for trying to teach a PHD by using that same folktale. We all know PHD’s cant learn from folktales, at least i do now. (By the way, pretty sure PHD stands for Piss Here Daily, because they are so mart, they can’t remember when and where to go)

Post 119 I show yet another example of poor machine work and quality control.

Then response in post #121 confirms there is no quality control, and it doesn’t matter any way because of the McCoy Study says out of round isn’t a problem because it will only cause a single caliber shift at 100 yards.
When people expect to shoot a single caliber 10 shot group, how does having a bullet a single caliber distance outside that group not matter?

Post #123, McCoy may not apply here, reference gas cutting

Post #124, I don’t know much about internal ballistics.

Somewhere in that exchange, the folktale came to life. Someone so full of their own knowledge, they don’t have time to listen to anyone or anything else. At least he admitted the lack of knowledge, hopefully tries to correct that.

But someone who espouses superior knowledge of how a bullet flies, that does not know how to get one out of the barrel straight or with a consistent velocity, isn’t going to make it very far.

One more time, let’s keep it civil, pointing out the obvious doesn’t need to be a bitch session. But it does require an open mind.

how come your design has a flat meplat??
Too pointed of a bullet can cause flight issues as well. As in lots of things there’s often a happy medium that’s best.

Powell River Laboratories (PRL) tried a design years ago that was too pointed. It didn’t fly well. During some doppler testing they could see something was wrong. They filed the points down and suddenly it flew as they expected. I’ve tried to find the article but haven’t been able too.

Also doesn’t Hornady have one of their tip profiles patented with the flat (flat ish) front as the focus of the patent?

^^^ yes they do:

No sure that "Relax and just take it" has ever been good advice. Even if it was I'm too stubborn to take it. Sorry, I'm getting too old to change.

I appreciate all of the theorizing. Much like defense lawyers, one would think some are being paid by the word. ;)

I look forward to seeing the actual results on paper.
Why not stop responding to the personal attacks. It’s not getting you any closer to your professed goal. Surely you have enough sense and thick enough skin to do that.

Try responding to the substantive responses and ignoring the rest. There are no prizes but maybe a stupid patch for keyboard warrior winners.
Less than a caliber of impact at 100 yards for a rather extreme eccentricity.
Less than a caliber at 100 yards is totally unacceptable for most of us. To have that built in from the start is a non starter.

Good to know
I know some manufacturers Lapua and Sierra are pointing some of thier factory offerings, but not as pointy as some of the pictures I've seen of shooters pointing thier own.
Most recently is Brian Blakes MTAP, this is giving a very tight and pointy meplat.
