Lab Radar LX

I’m trying to decide between getting the new LabRadar or the Garmin. I’ve been playing with some varmint cartridges that shoot fast enough they outrun my original LabRadar (3900+ fps).
While my original Labradar works “OKish”, I’d like to get something better. I felt a little disappointed with the original LabRadar and don’t want to get bit again.

Sounds as though you have answered your own question.

Have you sold your Labradar yet? I don’t use a crono often but my Oyler 33 is pretty tired.

Never used the LX, probably never will. The little Garmin came out first, works well, and is very easy yo use even for a technological fossil like myself. So my Lab Radar is now a backup eating nothing but I think the orange boys are behind the curve now with the little Garmin crossing the finish line.

Yep ‘ LR really got they’re butt kicked when the Garmin came out, I’m not sure if they’ll ever recover.

Have a look at some positive reports here:

And some bile from bitter original LabRadar owners who couldn't aim the units carefully enough. But initial reports from the LX are good, and I've seen one in operation a few weeks ago, it worked fine.

I'm not going to throw Lab Radar under the bus. They invested a lot of time and money to up the chronograph game and show us a better way. Now Gramin comes along and capitalizes on there work

???? Capitalized on their work ???? That's just progress and a better way. If we didn't have that we would still be using muskets, horses and buggy.

I do not feel Garmin capitalized on anything about Labradar. I had both and there is no comparison. Labradar had problems which they sat on because they had the market. Garmins technical knowledge and product support far outweighs Labradar. Just my opinion.

I've owned and used an original LabRadar so I have experience with one. Now I have a Garmin so I have experience with one also. The Garmin is the better of the two in my opinion. That said we will just have to wait and see what the owners of the LX tell us down the road. Going to be interesting.

Which patent did they break?

Isn't this the free market at work?

Original LR has a very unreliable control app. and a crappy micro USB connection that fails. The company will fix their quality issue at a significant price and put the same crappy USB connector that will fail again. Other than the shooting Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play? I tossed my LR in the trash bin once I bought the Garmin unit. I hope the folks at LR get it right this time.

I bought the magnetic attachment for the USB connector, a magnetic inertia trigger, and a 3D printed sight. I don't download or Bluetooth numbers. My old school LR is a godsend over my PITA chronograph. When it dies, I'll replace it. I'm not looking to replace an accessory that does everything I ask of it.

It's a shame that a shooter has to buy the extras you mention to get their LabRadar to function somewhat as it should have right out of the box. Yes, I bought the same three add ons for my LabRadar in hopes of getting it to work as advertised which it did sometimes.

I would say there was initial investment, then they just kept taking the money. Never really seemed to address many issues and significantly improve the product ... Users advised other users to get around or deal with shortcomings. Their price was higher than most wanted to fork out and they kept it steady for years.

The consumers and market responded appropriately and then they miraculously come out with a new competing product after losing their consumer base. That's not really throwing them under the bus, it's just an observation of reality.

I hope that others join the party and keep advancing the tech and listening to the community.
