ok just have to try it .It'll make the trip. How well is up to you and your equipment.
I think @Evan shoots a 22 something or another at a grand.anyone tryed the 22 CM at 1000 yards say with a berger 80.5 i have 28 inch barrel 1/8 twist . not sure what my load will be yet . shot 41 g of H 4350 now going to try 42 grains but haven’t shot that load yet .
If a little 223 will get to 1K, a 22 CM will obviously have no issues.
I shoot 75g ELDMs at 2975fps from a 28" 223 and it gets to 1K easy enough. The wind is the biggest factor.
ok thanks sounds good.I haven’t tried the 80gn class yet. I shoot 90gn SMK @ ~2920fps, out of a 22BR or 22 PPC. It works well and shoots as small as any of my 6.5x47 did.
My son's & I shoot the 75 ELD-M in CMP AR Tactical at Long Range (1000 yards) out of 20" White Oak 1/7 .223 Wylde. At sea level they will make it to 1000 supersonic on some days...others not depending on Atmospheric Conditions. Either way the bullet is very stable and accurate (Vertical), the wind call is on you though. I believe you will be fine out of the longer barrel with a slower powder (and higher muzzle velocity). It should be fun.If a little 223 will get to 1K, a 22 CM will obviously have no issues.

We have also shot the 80 SMK's out of this rifle with good results, but they have never been supersonic at 1000 yards. Fortunately, E-Targets are not used at Camp Perry Long Range Nationals.
good information223 was tried in TR in the 1980's, when it was approved for the match. A few rifles and conversion kits (bolt head and barrel) were produced by Omark, but no-one was really convinced, except for the short ranges. Having said that, there's better projectiles around now - testing back then was done with 69/77g Sierra only. One day I'll get round to trying my 223 with Bergers etc, but for now, I use it for 300m and the 500/600 on a calm day.
good information
yesSo you are only thanking people who tell you that the .22 cal bullets won't make it past 600 yards? LOL Ok. If you think a 22 Creedmoor won't make 1000 yards accurately then you need to go do it to prove it to yourself.
Andy, are you shooting AR Tac this year at Perry. I am and I think a few of my friends are too.My son's & I shoot the 75 ELD-M in CMP AR Tactical at Long Range (1000 yards) out of 20" White Oak 1/7 .223 Wylde. no problem everything is cool here .My youngest son (Logan 13yrs) and myself are really wanting to go to CMP Camp Perry Long Range Matches and then to NRA Mid-Range Nationals (Camp Atterbury, Indiana) the following week.
It will be challenging to make them both. Getting that much time off work may be difficult. Additionally, Logan will have to miss the 1st week of school to attend the Mid-Range Nationals. It is a tough decision.
Both are excellent events, but if we have to choose, we will likely go to the NRA Mid-Range Nationals and skip Camp Perry this year. Logan would be more prepared for Long Range with one more year of Practice.
Also impacting my decision, the Ruger SR1911 Lightweight Commander that was graciously awarded by Sturm, Ruger & Co. for the NRA Mid-Range AR-Tactical Championship is very nice.
Kochie-I apologize for Hi-Jacking.....Park Ranger & I will take our conversation offline or start another thread in the Competition Section.
Andy Legg
thanks nice looking rigMy 22CM was the easiest gun to tune and shoot at 1000K to 1400. I am shooting Alpha brass and 80 grain ELDM's. Tikka T3, action work and Benchmark Barrel installed by Georgia Precision.
