Got it, thanks! I screenshot that for future reference.Should be fine at mag length.
BTW, the MBT-2 can be modified like the Schmid with a mil spec disconnector spring, except,
the MBT-2 has a brass pin for the disconnector that must be 'worked" out then peened back in.

What is a good brass catcher? Since I do handload and having OCD, losing brass is something I have a very hard time dealing with... That means random bullets and primers left in boxes/trays, and odd number of loaded rounds in the MTM boxes. So I need a good brass catcher for those reasons haha. Read a lot of not so good reviews on most, so figured I'd ask some of the pros here on the topic. Thanks!
Don't have and real experience with the 73's, but the 75 btph shot dime sized groups out of the first upper I built with 23.5gr of Varget and mixed brass. That Criterion barrel shot really wellBought a few boxes of 73g ELDMs and 75g BTHP Match today.
Both of those should shoot decent at mag length correct?
Damn, that's a great idea and saves $50. Thanks!!!If shooting prone or from a bench just toss a small hand towel over the scope. Brass will hit the towel and drop to the ground.
I built my brass catcher for shooting at the range for about $6. A 1/8" fiberglass rod, cut to about 4', cost about $2. A $3 mesh, drawstring laundry bag from target. Removed the drawstring, threaded the fiberglass rod into it, drill a couple holes in a block of wood and inserted the ends of the rod.Damn, that's a great idea and saves $50. Thanks!!!
Yah this isn't really going to be built for its intended purpose of blasting rounds at short range. More of a long range (600 yards) precision set up with the krieger barrel and burris 4-14x LR MOA scope with 73-75g handloads. I'm not adding anything to it but what it needs to make that happen, which is a good barrel/stock/trigger and scope. I also don't care about weight, the heavier the better for me really. I hate light rifles. Heavier rifles typically shoot better, and easier to shoot better at longer range. All my long range hunting/target bolt actions are 15-16# So this will be light in comparison anyway.Sorry I didn't read through all the suggestions... I recommend a nice timney for the trigger , once I made that change to my ARs it was over for all the rest of the triggers out there.... Of course that's just what I like...An AR is something you build as you like / want.... The best advice I can give you is to keep it light , weight adds up fast and that is not what the AR platform is all about... There's tons of useless stuff you can add to an AR.... A good barrel and a good bolt are the by heart of the AR platform.. It depends on its intended purpose , that's how I figure out what needs to be added... The battery never goes dead on Iron sights but I just flat out like a red dot on them.... Especially if you're building it for it's original purpose which is a light weight fighting rifle... These guns can be made extremely accurate with some work and a good barrel...

I’ve got some processed brass like yours I think, what’s your plans on seating the bullets into it?I've got 500 1x fired, fully prepped brass ready for primer, powder and 73g ELDMs and 75g BTHPs. Coming together quite nicely!
Just gonna seat them as is. They don't look that bad to worry about chamfering inside/outside to me, especially for an AR anyway. Whatever was used to trim them, did a pretty good job.I’ve got some processed brass like yours I think, what’s your plans on searing the bullets into it?
https://www.brownells.com/reloading/reloading-dies/rifle-reloading-dies/rifle-m-dies/Yes the brass looks great. I’ve been playing with mine a little and there necked downed pretty tight, I’ve been running them back through a Forster f/l die with expander ball to open them up a little more. I think there still going to shave a bullet without chamfering. I really don’t want to have to do all that chamfering on that many cases so I ordered this Lyman M die to try yesterday. If it works I will use a Lee factory crimp die to finish with.Just gonna seat them as is. They don't look that bad to worry about chamfering inside/outside to me, especially for an AR anyway. I use the short version on my thermal night rifle, works well. I needed to slightly modify to fit my Stag arms mag well and clear the thermal scope mount cross bolts. I like it better than mesh type catchers.https://brassgoat.com/products/brass-goat
This one has good reviews.
I picked one up not too long ago and like it. Didn’t know about the short option, will have to check and see which one I got. Thanks.I use the short version on my thermal night rifle, works well. I did measure the outside necks and they seemed pretty tight also, compared to the starline and lapua I have. I want to say by around 8 to 10 thousandths. I may have to run them thru the expander then also. I'm not going to worry about crimping them either. I don't think it's neccesary on a 223, but that's just my opinion.https://www.brownells.com/reloading/reloading-dies/rifle-reloading-dies/rifle-m-dies/Yes the brass looks great. Mine were that too.t to say by around 6 or 7 thousandths.
