What Priming Tool to Buy

Want to upgrade from a RCBS Bench mounted tool. Learned to cry once and get the best you can get. What do you use and why??.

I use the rcbs bench prime, but I think the primal rights one is supposed to be the best on the market.

Yes if you have better than $600 laying around the Primal rights is the best. I been happy for years with my 21st century hand primer or I have a Several single feed hand primers that works fine. I’m getting older and the arthritis in my hands are getting worse, was planning on buying a PR but BenchrestBraxton posted the one above the other day in another thread there less than half the price and looks very well built.

tested both ugly reloading pcps and primal rights units side by side (video coming soon). if i was reloading for the utmost consistency I would choose the ugly pcps, if I wanted good speed and consistency I'd choose the primal rights.

I just don't like how much force is required to crush primers properly on the primal rights. The ugly pcps makes crushing much easier due to the increased leverage using the press.

When using primers and cases with depths checked, I get primer depth consistency sub 0.0005" everytime with lapua brass, it's pretty incredible

i use it as rust prevention measures, i have oily skin and like to keep my equipment in good condition, its an ocd thing lol.

i have a a hand primer that i use for doing small batches of 5 or so when doing testing when my bench primers are set up for doing other calibers.

I cannot imagine doing a large batch of brass with a hand primer.

K&M, with a depth gauge attached. So that you know when each primer is seated to the exact same depth

Hey Braxton are you coming Sat. to the 600 yd shoot? I also got to finally use mine the other day and it works awesome. Consistency to .0005 was pretty easy.

I started using the RCBS bench primer because my hands just can't do more than a few cases without cramping anymore. Getting old and arthritis sucks, but, ......... That priming tool in the video looks to me to be a really good tool. I like that it is adjustable for seating depth. May have to get me one of those.

I have these and the precision primer seater sold by ugly reloading 3x as fast and much easier on your hands. K&M work well but just so slow. The PPS isn't fast by any means but makes the K&M look like an all day affair.

The Lee bench primer is under rated--folks complain about the trays but after you use it a while and learn the quirks it is a fine piece of equipment capable of loading a lot of brass in short amount of time with a nice degree of precision--all about learning the tool---At times I cuss mine but if it broke I would get another tomorrow

I agree Wayne, I use the 21st Century (I have 2, one for 6PPC and the other for BR) the only problem is arthritis in my hands and squeezing that booger is getting harder! I've had and sold the RCBS bench mount, didn't like the time it took to load the tube but may have to revisit or find a half priced deal on a primal rights primer!!

Another fan of the K&N priming tool. Made of all steel and has great feel to it, but not if you have arthritic hands. Not sure if I needed a bench mounted model. One thing for sure though is that the bench model I would choose will not cost me $600! Lol

Are you referring to the primers stacked up in the tube? I heard of this happening but I would like to know how many times it has truly happened. Not just the "friend of a friend twice removed" had it happen to him. Reason being and I'm only one person, out of many thousand of people who use a tube system of some type but I've been using a tube system in one way or the other since late 80's when I bought my first dillion press and never had a problem.
