Priming tool

CPS by primal rights. Not cheap but makes me happy whenever I prime. Effortless and precise. A joy to use. Same feeling I get when using a Giraud trimmer to trim brass. Always puts a smile on my face. To me, that’s worth the price of the tool.

I have Lees Rcbs, Hornady Sinclair and 21st century.
John @ 21st century sent me the first one to try I had it about 45 minutes and ordered a second! I know where the Sinclair is,.... it’s in my portable range box but I have no idea where any of the others are nor do I care!.... 21st century for me one small prime and one for large primer.

The end of the world is coming so we all may as well buy one and go out smiling.

Just changed to the Frankford Arsenal priming tool. I had the Lee primer tool and trays for years ...finally realized I wanted more control over seating depth. The F.A. is depth adjustable, has a solid feeling to it, and seems that it is one of the best priming tools for my need. Comes with all the shell holders, that's worth $36.00 at least . Can't say it's the best for you, but do some research on it...rsbhunter

Why would you want adjustable depth control. If you uniform pockets you know every pocket has a different depth. From the same box of Lapua brass the pocket uniformer removes zero brass from some cases and a lot of brass removed from other cases. There is no correct depth. They must be seated to the bottom of the pocket. The only way to do this is by feel.

I’ve used a few that just don’t have the leverage I need when seating primers into new brass, (a bit of a work out ya know) on the other hand the K&M tool seats primers on virgin brass quite easily.

The k@m with the gauge lets you measure the pocket depth and primer height then has the gauge to go by to give ever how much "crush" you want to give them.I go .003 on small rifle but havent had a chance to use it on large rifle primers yet. Also gives you a good feel feedback.Kinda awkward to use at first but now I've got a pretty good rhythm going, but I just use it when loading small batches of bench rest stuff lol...Which is pretty much all I load for anymore.....

Purchased a Frankford Arsenal tool, so far I will give it a 90%.
It's far superior to the latest Lee unit. The adjustability of the stroke is easily set, the construction appears first class and the unit operates smoothly.
2 items that I have issues with ---
First, the feed tray does not dispense the primers well -- large primers particularly jam leaving the tray requiring shaking of the unit to feed them.
Second and more disturbing, that shell holders provided do not securely retain the cases. 2 of the 3 holders that I have used thus far (the#4 & 11) have allowed the case to be pushed through the holder before seating the primer. Fortunately, the Lee shellholders are a direct replacement and solve the problem.

I have used the Sinclair for many years. I like the 21st century but couldn't justify buying one because my sinclair works just.fine. also I see no reason to have adjustable depth on a priming tool. I seat by feel. I want that primer firmly seated in the bottom of the primer pocket

That said I really like all my PMA tools stuff. They have a new priming tool that.i will add to my range box.

What hand priming tool are you using? My rcbs hand priming tool is worn out and needs replacement.
Having 3 good priming tools as follows I have RCBS Bench priming tool, Sinclair and 21st century .Of the three tools listed the RCBS with a Darrel Holland upgrade works best for me.It will hold 100 primers and is depth adjustable for different seating depths. This gives me Bench rest quality seating. The RCBS Seater seems to last a life time and is easy to use.
Just me thinkin.!

I have two, old-version Lee tools (with trays), that have and still work great.
My heart shattered along with the tray cover for my old Lee tool when I dropped it a while back. But I found another one in a grab bag at my club. Now I plan to find a 3D scanner, scan the cover and make the file available so that anyone can 3D print replacement when needed.

What a great service that would be!!! My son-in-law has a 3D printer, but no scanner. Other than the link that connects the lever to the priming ram, they are pretty well bulletproof. Early on I broke a link, so I ordered two from LEE, one for a spare. So now owning two complete units and one extra link I think I am set for the rest of my shoot career.

The 21st Century Hand Priming Tool: Science and Art Work Together as One
The tool itself is great. I've had lots of problems with the Lee feeding tray. Just bought a Frankford one. So far, it feeds much, much better than the Lee feeding tray with the 21st Century or the Hornady.
