New Garmin Chronographs

Does it capture arrows? I read it does just wondering if anyone tried it. I assume it can also do shot shells?
Arrows are no problem. Capture the velocity in my basement using the Garmin.

Early on I saw a video where they took some really large rubber bands in a huge slingshot config and tossed a LabRadar (which I assume was broken or was after), but the Garmin captured the fps on the LabRadar flying. I can tell you it has no issues at all capturing at 4500+ fps, and does it every shot.

The little tripod is fine when using a bench but the legs are IMO too narrow set for uneven ground as it seems nearly top heavy as is. But heck you can mount this on anything, even a stick stuck in the ground or set it on a flat rock. Given the price I'm not about to mount to my rifle or anything that gets recoil impact. I know they seem ok with recoil but it's electronics so best to treat it with a bit more care as I certainly don't want to have to buy a replacement.

lol the airborne LR is funny. seems like the garmin would be made with guys like prs in mind who mite very well want to attach them to a gun- i dont know- if i didnt mount mine to the rest id geta heavier base of some kind

Question for you Garmin guys... Does it read over 3900fps? I know this was a drawback of the Labradar, just curious if Garmin got it right?

My local shop to me said they were going to get some this Spring sometime. He talked like it was quite a little ordeal to get setup with them to be a dealer. Anyway a local place that takes cash is always a winner for me.

The good news is the others will be far less costly and only come down more with time.
Very true. That`s how i ended up with the Comp Electronics Pro DLX w/BlueTooth. I grabbed one of them up for $99 on sale at MidwayUSA when they had a sale on them. Works pretty good for me. I live on a fixed disability income, so i can`t spend money freely like most people can.

This is the one i bought from MidwayUSA. Saving $60 dollars means another pound of powder.

Yep, one of the reasons I replaced my mag with it. Most of my rifles are fast varmint and I wanted to be able to chrono them. It has zero issues with 4500+ out of my Swifts. They say it maxes as 5000 and I've clocked 4520, it's never missed capturing a shot (so far) and all I do is set it on the bench just off front rest or bipod leg, so maybe 12-15" over and about even with the front of the stock and of course roughly pointed at the target. Easy as pie to use.

I still like my $80 pro crono. Does everything I need it to do. Does Arrows, pellet rifles, and 5000fps on centerfires. Takes 3 minutes to set up and I've never had any issues with it in a thousand trips to the range over the last 10+ years.

The Garmin is nice sure, but not even close to being $600 cool...

I 3-D printed a mount for my scope stand, the Garmin is so easy to use that now i can collect data on every shot down range, not just when i want to test. I plan on using it in matches and do use it at practice. Along with the Shot Marker down range data, and I got a little $10 humidity and temperature reader, I have more data than i know what to do with.

What caught me off-guard is how compact the unit is. I sorta pictured something about the size of a deck of cards -wrong. The Garmin is amazingly small.IMG_0761.jpeg

Area 419 short. Takes a few tries but they got it. ROFL
so did this LR get mounted in front of the muzzle after the slingshot experience??? just wonder how it held up-lol- inquiring minds wanna know:eek:
