Yep.I've found Iosso to take 1/2 - 1/3 the number of passes than JB to get the same level of cleaning.
Brush is to help with carbon. Chemicals is for copper. I love Sweets.I don't scrub any of my barrels. Foaming cleaner gets all copper out.
Since cleaning carbon form a barrel is being discussed how does iosso compare to JB bore paste as far as aggressiveness. Which of the two are more aggressive?
No offense...but do you know this for fact? From where? All I have ever heard from barrel maker world is pumice. Like to put this mystery to bed once and for all!The abrasive in JB is diatomaceous earth. -Al
And, you wind up doing less scrubbing => i.e., is the net effect the same?I figured If using iosso is half the work time of JB can't be to bad of thing especially knowing you don't have alot of time from one relay to the next.
"Diatomaceous earth mixed with two oils to form a paste is what I settled on."No offense...but do you know this for fact? From where?

Jim Brobst in 'Precision Shooting Magazine'
From Brownell's website:
"The original, time-proven formula developed by Jim Brobst and produced under exclusive license. J-B has been getting burned-on, caked-in powder residue and copper jacket fouling out of gun barrels since the 1960’s, and hasn’t damaged an inch of rifling yet. Today, J-B once again proves itself a champion by the way it easily cleans the dirtiest, moly-fouled barrels. A unique combination of ingredients and a one-of-kind, multi-step mixing process give J-B its special characteristics. They work together to cushion the abrasive action; the soft paste liquifies as you use it, then wipes out of the bore easily. The non-embedding feature means there’s no abrasive residue left behind which might keep "cutting" after you’ve finished cleaning.
At one time, JB did change colors....from brownish to a more grey color.
Amazing pictures!Finally..mystery solved!!! thanks. For those who don't know..here is an electron microscope pic of some of the diatom algae that make up diatomaceous earth..The diatoms make their shells out of silica (glass) and live in all water bodies. When they die they become fossilized and are dug up en masse as diatomaceous earth. I can see why it works so well. Nature's microfiber cloth in paste form!

I rotate between barrel not being clean, the wind, people talking on the line and not the same lot of Bullets. because it’s never me the shooterI read these threads on carbon. What did we do before we had/knew about carbon? Wasn’t much to talk about. What did we blame accuracy issues on before, lol? Never operator error always the gun or barrels at fault.
