Powder price increase

I have basically stopped shooting anything with large rifle primers last few years. While my supply is ok i just stopped. Swapped over to small cartridges that use less powder and i stocked up on powders and primers. I should be good for a bit. I also stopped going to the range almost all together unless to test. Now my target practice is on moving coyotes

Interesting just blaming one party. They both get failing grades by my judgment. Since 1969, republicans have held the presidency more than twice as many years as the dems if I had to count it.

Trump with his stimulus package gave a whole new meaning to welfare.

Back on task, if we are blessed, we all have hobbies, some more expensive than others. Buy all the ammo and powder you can afford and need, shoot it and enjoy life.
If it makes you feel good to blame the republicans too for this horrific mess we're in, then have at it.

Nope. It’s way more complicated than an over -simplistic “it’s the democrats” fault. Again, who has had control of the Oval Office for most of the last 50 years? The Democrats?

Look at the turn our society as a whole has taken. You can thank a republican Supreme Court for a lot of that.

Anyone vaguely in touch with politics should understand, or stated differently, Stevie Wonder could see that those same democrats want Trump to win the republican nomination. He is the only republican candidate Biden has a chance at beating.

If the Biden (democrats) wins, we can all expect the price of shooting supplies to continue to rise. If he loses, the price will likely go down. This seems to be the cycle, for whatever reason.

I was fortunate to receive and follow the advice from some of the older shooters on this site a few years ago that warned us that prices were going up due to the change in parties and to go ahead and buy what you need.

They’re corrupt too, but some have to still find an excuse why they couldn’t vote for Trump. They know now we wouldn’t be in this mess if Trump was still on his second
term.
Exactly.

Trump didn't get republicans to demonize LE and foment riots all over the country and cause panic buying in the summer of 2020.

Trump didn't project weakness to our enemies so they felt they could attack our shipping lanes, attack Saudi oil fields, and encourage some little fat kid in charge of a country where WWIII is most likely to start, from launching missiles wherever he feels like it, even over Japan.

Trump/republicans didn't get ALL of Europe to lull themselves into complacency with some idiotic Green Agenda, and even worse, ALL of Europe somehow convinced themselves that they were safe because of the USA. lol They spent pennies on their defense cause War with Russia could not ever possibly happen again because we're such a civilized world now, and NATO stands so strong, especially with Turkey in NATO... what could possibly go wrong? Didn't Trump put Erdogan in his place? Oh... but now he's got the green light to kill our allies in Iraq. lol You think those socialist yearning inclusive European countries even believe they can count on us now? lol

This whole shortage with powders and primers is directly linked to the failed Green and Globalist Agenda where everyone thought they never had to worry about War again. The Green agenda just made everyone over there dumber than they already were, more complacent than they already were and their reliance on the US as the peace keeper of the world... well, that went out the door the day Biden won. Europe spent all their money on windmills and solar panels and nothing on defense... is that a republican thing too? lol Did republicans make them not have enough artillery, bombs and bullets to where they can barely give a hand to Ukraine?.... never mind set in motion what will take decades, to get their army stockpiles STOCKED again and probably even harder a task, will be to train their armies to fight again.... both will take a lot of powder and primers by the way. lol

The strategic withdrawal of Afghanistan by this self destructive democrat administration was done in ridiculous haste with the End State being that they needed a headline before 9/11 that WE were out of Afghanistan. There was no other strategic plan other than they thought they could just do this in a couple weeks and get a headline and have Biden mumble something about some successful End to the war. lol The most embarrassing withdrawal/surrender in US history showed our enemies we are weak. And that Kirby, he just loves talking about the greatest evacuation in all of human history... it's hilarious. I'm sure someone can find a way to blame that on republicans too.

But some people just want to be gratuitous to the liberals, and I have no idea what drives that, and insist on making the case that republicans are bad too.

If someone wants to make the case that the actions and agenda of the republican party has led to the primer and powder shortage, let's hear it.

Global instability is the main problem, all made possible by a global Liberal (not republican) agenda. I have no issue placing all the blame on one party.

That's the situation in a nutshell. Anybody who thinks these prices will drop anytime soon if they delay buying components now is only fooling him or herself, and they'll just end up paying even more in the long run.

I don't want to alarm people people, but here's a BBC story that surprised even me (a confirmed pessimist) ...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-67935464

......... and people wonder where the powder and primers are going!
Thats an interesting article Laurie- you always provide excellent insights into the topic. I wonder how much ammunition Russia has stockpiled. Thanks

They surely have something to worry about. Sweden, Norway and Finland combined don't have 1/4 of the Ukraine army's size. All of NATO combined only totals out about 3.2, More 1/3 of which is the US. The ten Bottom countries combined don't total 100K.

I got into precision air rifles awhile back, more and more shoot mine more every year it seems.

Anybody who is interested should look at Utah Airguns and specifically the new FX King in 22 caliber. Take any 22 rimfire rifle you own and shoot against one out as far as 100 yards. 40gr HP at 1000fps. Oh, yeah, the H&N Match 40gr HP's are pushing $16 per tin of 200. You can feed an accurate one, (sub moa out to 100yds) for pennies on the dollar VS the 22 rimfires.

This is a realization that I have come to also :( I enjoy shooting my XC and my boy is getting in a lot of trigger time on his 6.5 creed. Both of which have depleted my large primer stash. I may just have to scrounge up some small primer brass for both, but that would come at a cost also. Weighing out the pros vs cons. I can't find any LRP local on the shelf.

Russia, Russia , Russia thats it!

Not sure if you're trying to be funny, but it's the fault of the adults in the room that stopped being adults. It's knowing which of your enemies will stab you in the face or the back as soon as they get the chance. It's about not relying on weaklings as allies in a fight. Russia just happens to be the one that started this. We have bigger problems than Russia.

Whats the difference now compared to when we had troops in Iraq and Afghanistan?
We have no troops in Ukraine, well very little anyway.
What has changed?

What has changed should be crystal clear.

Generations lulled into complacency since the end of WWII believing there was no domestic threat despite warning after warning that insurgent marxists and liberals are working to destroy our country and our way of life. These same marxists and liberals have now created a hostile movement where logic is defied and at the send of an email paid agitators quickly get black people to destroy their own neighborhoods and have taken to the suburbs. That changed. Before, there actually had to be a real reason to riot for sport. Now, a drug addict career criminal can play "resisting arrest", die as a result, and there goes your tv screen for the next few days divded into 4 quadrants covering simultaneous riots nationwide, all in cities where nothing even happened. Would that make you want to buy a gun? This is what suddenly dawned on Americans, despite people sounding the alarm with bullhorns for decades. These unassuming Americans weren't just hikers packing a quart of water for a hike in the desert. These are people who woke up in a firestorm with no water.

I was in Bass Pro last week and saw Speer Lawman 9mm 50 rounds for 34.95. I still have hundreds of boxes that I bought for 8.99. Things became real, that's what changed.

Iraq and Afghanistan? What markets do you think were at risk cause of those two wars? Besides families getting the worst news of their lives and some of us having to fight our butts off over and over and hold hasty memorial ceremonies for our brothers that didn't survive, what other negative outcome did you expect? High prices for a 1000 round case of 5.56? Didn't we already prove the markets here at home can endure much more war casualties and not skip a beat?

Now throw in Europe and all that I previously discussed, that's what happened. Decades of neglecting warnings and priorities finally came back to haunt them.

The 3rd world invading entire towns and cities, the results of how marxists have degraded our country is goimg to happen. People can whine about prices or they can bring their cart to the register. I really dont give a damn.

your actually and factually wrong the dems have held power 3-1 historically over the repubs, but I can't argue with you that there is quite a few on the right that need retire too, however we need to kneecap the democratic party first, their not even trying to hide it now, they do not care what the people want, they just want to shove their agenda down our throats. And you have read those on this post whining about the evil corporations, these delusional people vote democratic and then whine "look their taking our gun rights and others". You hear the blacks in Chicago on TV, they finally figured out the problem is voting democratic and they are vowing to vote them out!
