Another .243 vs 6XC vs 6mm Creedmoor discussion

Was talking to Tubb last night on the phone and I said I went to the 243 because I did not know he had a cartridge. I said I went to the 243 because John Whidden was beating everyone.

Tubb told me he beat Whidden last month.

243/105 hybrid 3350
6xc/115 3050

Tubb won. So, apparently they are comparable systems.

What was this match where D Tubb beating John Whidden last month ?

It's a pointless subject. You're talking about 3 rounds that are nearly identical in performance. 243 Win being the largest by a little. Why talk max velocity and then turn around and ask about barrel life? You get one or the other. Load your rounds accordingly.

I chose the 6mm Creedmore because Lapua makes SRP brass for it which means ultra long case life at max velocities.

I would throw plans for a 6XC out the window first because Lapua does not make brass for it.
Pointless is pretty close, unless you are making differentiations to make a difference. As Ledd Slinger pointed out, if you are looking for max velocity, all three of these are going to be hard on the barrel. If you move to a lower node of accuracy, say with a slower powder, you could extend your barrel life exponentially with all of these. I always suggest a lower pressure load. As far as the SRP, I can't say that's true. A number of poeple I know, say it is, but, I've been able to beat them. They do shoot well though, and if I make a mistake it's a loss.

Going on 5 years ago. The OP probably made his decision.

whelp....never got a report back on what he decided, or how it worked out. I only know what I've seen from these cartridges. So, I said what I know. Besides, it don't matter who livened up this conversation. Probably because it still needs to be had, no matter how old it is.

Yup, I’m sure he wised up and has an xc and he’s extremely happy about it. Hopefully never had to take the walk of shame with the creedmoor.

helps me learn. I am a vacuum cleaner of old, new or oft repeated information, opinions.

Seems to be not a dimes worth of difference between these. A barrel will last forever if you leave it in the gun safe otherwise it is a expendable item.
Reasonable Barrel "Life", is important to us older Folks on, Fixed Incomes and,..
Once I build, an accurate Rifle, then find best Load for barrel, then "Verify" that Load at, the several "Ranges" used,..
( 200, 500, 6- 700 yards, etc. ) I DON'T want to think about, replacing the Barrel, for a while ( Just Me ).
The EXTRA, 500 to 800 accurate shots, that I expect to get out of, My 6 XC are WHY, I built it, in the First Place.
And,. The 6 Creedmoor hasn't Won, near the Bling that, the 6 XC has !
The only advantage I see is for, the NON reloader, that's buying 6 Creed Factory ammo to,.. "Play" with.
