As long as the pan swings freely, being off kilter shouldn’t make any difference.
True’ we don’t want anything swinging wildly whether perfectly in line or not, we want it to dampen freely . I’ve had this before where the pan doesn’t sit perfectly and it really didn’t make a difference in the scales performance, I put a checkweight in the pan and it will settle on the correct weight. I suppose there’s always extremes or no absolutes per se’if it is off kilter and swinging you can see it rock the beam with a loupe. Makes more sense to have the weigh centered in the pan from the gitgo
