Electric Cars -- anyone own one?

Well, after 4 Billion in losses, my company is dialing back its additional 12 Billion investments in future development/production.
Specifically the Electric 150.

Not sure how this affects ongoing construction of EV battery plants in cooperation with a Korean Partner here in KY.

Don't own a "lectricical" vehicle, don't plan on owning one either. In fact, I just bought a '23 VW Golf GTI 6 speed manual. VW announced that in '25 the GTI is going "stomp and go transmission" only, so I have just put a deposit on a '24 VW Golf GTI.

Yes. You are right. Which is why battery technology needs to improve. But the point is that electric motors work very well - better than IC engines.

I’m sure horse manure was becoming a real problem in New York City at about the time cars begin to appear. And people said that cars would never be practical. It was impossible to buy gasoline. And they were dangerous. They could never replace the horse.

My great grandfather owned a harness shop in South Dakota in the late 1800s. I think it’s interesting that he later opened a garage and repaired automobiles. We’ll figure this out.
The government didn't have to subsidize the horse less carriage or filling station infrastructure.... That stuff worked and played for itself.

Been out of the Automotive repair trades for close to 10 + years now.
I see where most of the "air tools" have been replaced with rechargeable battery powered tools. So far, they seem to be working pretty well and the batteries are even getting better. ;)
Well, I love my Millwallkee impact wrench and I can charge it in my gas powered Ford pickup. But in reality I live right next to a major Interstate highway and traffic is always relentless, there is no way this country could go electric and get the goods and services that they have grown use to.

Maybe some sanity starting to show through

The bill would also prohibit any rule mandating the use of a specific technology or regulations that limit the availability of new vehicles based on engine type.

The Whitehouse promises to veto the bill if it passes the senate.

What we all suspected has been confirmed, Biden/Obama/democrat backed "Chinese green energy" companies are fraudulent based scammers. Stealing senior and vulnerable individuals money using long term solar lease agreements. And double dipping taxpayers along the way. I doubt this will be covered in next weeks ESG classes in public schools.
Saw that last night and my bet? It will be WELL KNOWN in nothing flat and the shysters will have their azzes handed to them BIG TIME!! Thinking Fox will get the Old Folks $$$$ back without any problem. Funny how Front Page news get attention.:eek:;)

And I just saw where in California at the First of the Year, all "NEW" trucks doing port or rail work will have to be ELECTRIC??
Thinking there will be a BIG RUN on used trucks.
And wasn't it not too long ago there was a backup at the port docks and goods wern't being shipped out fast enough??

Do people get this emotional over a discusion of 168 gn vs 150 gn .308?

Unfortunately, that's an affirmative. There's a tremendous amount of 2A related cases on the books at this time...Bruen is making the left go ballistic. We can all hope it doesn't effect our availability of Primers, Powder and Projectiles, but in reality we know it does.:(

You have to ask at some point, why no safety recalls when 10x as many people have died in Tesla fires than Ford Pintos.
Dateline 14 Dec 2023: Tesla is recalling more than 2M vehicles after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration determined that its Autopilot driver-assistance system does not go far enough to keep drivers engaged. The recall follows an NHTSA investigation into a series of crashes involving Autopilot.

Brians356 graph show a beautiful picture why China has given the Bidens millions
of dollars and why they are pushing electric vehicles! Good job!
And the two things that we have more of than just about anyone, coal and oil, our dear “leader” is attempting to exstinquish.

Our energy problem is a unique combination of stupidity and Naiveté’.
