Rimfire Gallery--Show Us Your Gun

One of the more interesting rifles I happened into over the years is a Stevens 417 that was rebarreled in 22 LR. The barrel has MS Risley marked on it. Turned out that Mr. Risley worked with Donaldson and Lovell to develop the R2 Lovell Cartridge - the "R" standing for Risley. Risley made the chambering reamers for the 22 R2 Lovell. It seems he made his own barrels as well. The rifle appears to have been done in the 1930s give or take and it still shoots. It did well with CCI Std Vel and RWS Target but not with SK Std Plus which surprised me enough I tried it twice. I do want to take it out sometime and try Eley Match and RWS R50 to see what it does but in any case, the old girl still shoots.

I am a bit surprised. I have used SK Standard Plus as practice ammunition in all of my 22 LR rifles ever since I discovered it 10 or more years ago. Now that I am no longer interested in competition shooting, the difference I get with SK Standard Plus, as compared to Eley Match or other expensive brands is minor enough to have me buy a case of SK Standard Plus.

With that case and a case of Lapua Center X, I also bought years ago, I have all that I need. At my age, I am probably going to die before I ever need to buy any more 22 LR ammo.

I just noticed SK Standard Plus is "out of stock" nearly everywhere. So, I guess the secret is out.

This is an Anschutz 1808 EDS (running boar). By all standards it is as much a piece of art as it is a rifle…they just don’t get any prettier than this. There were an assortment of small bumps and bruises on the stock from too much time in a crowded safe. The refinish I did worked out fine and the metal is virtually perfect. It shoots like a lazer at 50 yards…I will give it a go at 100 shortly.

My kids shooting their 22 bench guns. Definitely one of the best things I have got them in to.
His is a Flash turbo, Shilen rachet McMillan edge smithed by Gorham.
Hers is a cz 457 Shilen rachet done by Joe Chacon. Both shoot great

I think it's great that your kids are enjoying shooting some much. I hate to be that guy but they really should have eye and hearing protection on

No problem. They always wear it or put it on after they get their rifles set up on the bench. Pretty sure they just don’t have it on yet. A lot of times they like to set up and do a few dry fires with snap caps. Pretty sure that’s what they were doing. Thanks for your concern. Honestly

Here is the Anschutz 1761 MPR that I just bought. It only took me 18 days from my purchase to get it home. Now I am just waiting for a bore guide I ordered to give it a preliminary cleaning and head to the range. Based on recent experience with shipping, I should be able to shoot the rifle sometime next year.

Fortunately I am also still working with the CZ 457 I also recently purchased. So I have something to keep me busy.

So, here is the MPR (with the magazine left out of the pictures by mistake. It is a 5 shot repeater.)
