De-capping die

Is there a universal de-capping die you would recommend?
Need it for 6, 6.5, 30, all BR’s
Does it come with a rod that is for the small flash holes?
Descriptions I have read are not clear to me.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Try the Mighty Armory, it will be the last decapping die you will need to buy. A few days ago I made a stupid mistake. I started decapping some .223 cases and it was a struggle. I was having to add serious pressure to deprime a case. Finally, they would pop out. After 4 cases I stopped, thinking there was something wrong. There was, I had forgotten to replace the large primer stem with the small primer stem. Took the die apart, and found my mistake. Checked the stem, it was still straight, no bend.

It is not really a die and performs the simplest function in reloading. I have always used the Lee but it is basically a pos. Pins soft steel and have to do serious wrenching to lock in place. But cheap. Lee does make small pin rods for Lapua/peterson small size. I just ordered a Mighty Armory one. Thx!

I use the Lee as well. Picked up a few spare rods after I broke a pin (don't remember how) and have never needed one since.

I don't use the decapper for small diameter flash holes, so have never needed to reduce the pin diameter, but it would be pretty simple to chuck it in a drill and spin it down.

I was thinking about getting a Mighty Armory decapper, but have largely gone back to decapping stuff on the press (or in the case of rifle when neck sizing with an arbor press.)

Ive used most of the available options, and they all work reasonably well - unless you start getting primers catching on the tip of the pin, and pulling partway back into the pocket. Jams up the whole process, *especially* in any kind of progressive or automated situation.

At that point, something like the Mighty Armory decapping die with the 'flicker' spring is a god-send.

I use the MA de-cap/swage combo die, and use the 6br size pin for everything I shoot (20's -6br), never change it out. NO issues with crimped 223 brass, I can feel the resistance with a crimped case, and apply steady but increasing pressure until the spent primer pops out. I then just unscrew the top (similar to a LEE collet die) and pull the decap pin, insert the swage pin, screw the top back on, and start removing crimps when needed.

Love the Lee, but it's too big for the .059-.061 flash holes.
I use the Lee for de-capping all brass. When I purchased it I realized the pin was too large for the small primer flash holes. I chucked it in my drill and wrapped a small piece of 120 grit sand paper around the pin to turn it down to fit and polish with finer grit once it is small enough. Just have to keep measuring it until it is acceptable. WARNING!!! Hold the sand paper with pliers due to heat. It will get HOT.

Will the Mighty Armory decapping die which is on sale for $29.95 work on 17-20 caliber cases without buying anything else ?

You can get the PUA version, which comes with 2 small pins or the Magnum which comes with 2 large pins. Or, what I'd did was get the PUA and also ordered an extra large pin with it for 3.95.

But the small pin will work for cases with small or large flash holes. I've never needed to use the extra pin I bought, I just use the small one for everything.

What sets the Mighty Armory apart for me is the "flicker spring". I'm sure everyone has experienced a stuck primer that wouldn't allow you to remove the brass from the shell holder...this fixes that issue.
