I have a friend who has filled his November archery elk tag here in Arizona. Elk tags are hard to come by, especially rut hunt or late rifle tags but he has drawn the November archery hunt 6 years in a row and filled it every year. This year he applied to be able to use a crossbow since his shoulder is permanently disabled, he’s been drawing his cam bow with the aid of his legs for the past five years, they granted him a crossbow permit and he filled his tag again. If you look at the success rate for this hunt it’s something like 6-7% he has 6 years in row of filling his tag, admirable.

Now the kicker. He will sit in his stand which is a homemade mini cabin for days at a time, this includes pee and bowel movements. I could never do it, I’d go insane but he’s done it for years for deer and elk and has experienced a lot of success. This year he was in his stand for 5.5 days and saw one elk which he took. He also saw two other hunter who never knew he was there. Pretty cool in my book. Not a huge elk by any means but simply filling a tag during this hunt is a feat.

We have two late rifle bull tags in a neighboring unit that starts on 12/1, hopefully we fill at least one of them. Our deer and elk meat is getting low.

A friend trapped this 55# beaver on my property. The bobcat was trapped a couple hundred yards from my house. He couldn't keep it due to the Iowa DNR not allowing in my county. In southern Iowa they allow 3. He took in 5 coyote pelts and the buyer said, I'll give you $5 for one, keep the rest.47194.jpeg47196 (1).jpeg

Thank you.
On that hunt, it's a buck that really should have walked. There are some really nice bucks on those ranches and are killed each year. It was the last day of the hunt, rained off and on all day and I was just "done" so when he appeared around an hour before dark......
It’s still a nice buck and it put meat in the freezer. Sometimes it’s nice to bring some good eats!

Bagged 3 WT this week in WV, 7 & 8 pt and a doe. 175 gr 338 hammer hunter entered the 7 pt in front of shoulder angled upward taking out lungs, spine, and 6 ribs. He just fell over. 8pt was taken with 250AI and 75 hammer hunter.

Roberts are legal in my county now (a few years now IIRC). My neighbor smoked one with his truck this spring & the DNR took it (out of season & no furharvester tag). I've been trying to call one in for a few weekends. We have a few big ones on trail-cam.
