Had this happen to a few of mine too...Shotgun season opens today. Hope someone kills the one that ruined my little tree.

I have over 30 deer kills (probably over 40) with the 240 xtp, most of them dropped in their tracks. I did have one jacket separation recovered about 15 years ago, but it still resulted in a DRT deer. No complaints with performance for me. Just my .02Another southern Michigan doe. 44mag, 240gr xtp, 65yds. It was a double lung shot. Had to track it over 300yds with the most blood I have ever seen. Thankfully it bled a lot or I would of lost it where it went into. This is the 2nd deer I have shot with the 240xtp. So far I'm 50/50 on its performance. The first obliterated the heart. It didnt run far and died within view. This one took off.
Anyway my wife and I wanted 3. I got two. Her turn in late doe.
Got lucky today:

They seem to have built a good reputation amongst deer hunters. It will take me a few bang flops before I am confidant in any new bullet. I shot about the same amount of deer you did but with the 270gr speer deep curl. Results were excellent. Never a track job all the way out to 150 yards or so. Next season Im going to be trying a corbin die swaged 240 jsp and maybe cast bullets.I have over 30 deer kills (probably over 40) with the 240 xtp, most of them dropped in their tracks. Nice bucks! Yes, the numbers are way down...I used to see 50-60 deer in a day sitting behind my place, now I'm lucky to see 1/2 a dozen. The place we hunted over the weekend is kind of a honey-hole area. We hunted about 15 miles south of there Monday & only took one doe (+3 coyotes). Lots of predators in the area:Nice.
Most of my friends here in Iowa have been doing well. Here's a couple that were shot nearby. A friend in southern Iowa said the numbers were way down around him due to bluetongue. It's been a dry year.
